Bendigo Easter Festival The Tourism and Major Events team is responsible for the coordination of activities relating to the attraction and support of major events to Bendigo. With international and national events hosted throughout the year in our diverse parks, heritage and contemporary buildings and open spaces, Bendigo has earned its reputation as a world class events capital of regional Victoria. Our beautiful tree-lined streets and impressive buildings create a picturesque backdrop to any event, while our convenient location in the heart of Victoria is accessible for many surrounding towns, all within an easy 90 minute drive from Melbourne’s CBD. Welcome to Bendigo Venues & Events - a business unit of the City of Greater Bendigo and responsible for the management of a suite of venues including Ulumbarra Theatre, The Capital Theatre, the Bendigo Town Hall, Dudley House and The Engine Room.
This Unit presents a broad range of community, state, national and international events including live theatre, dance, fine and contemporary music and other performing arts activities across a varied suite of venues.
BV&E’s venues have an equally busy commercial life through the hosting of weddings, conferences, seminars, celebrations, ceremonies, classes and community events and by offering professional theatres, fully supported ticketing and box office, first-class function facilities, exclusive catering, exhibition spaces and dedicated community access venues.

Bendigo Visitor Centre
The Bendigo Visitor Centre has 65 volunteers that play an important role in welcoming visitors to Bendigo and the Region, providing an authentic local connection 364 days each year. Our volunteers strengthen the relationship between the Visitor Centre, local tourism operators and the broader Bendigo community through various roles. |

Early Years Events
Gain invaluable skills, experience & social connections by volunteering at City of Greater Bendigo’s early years events!
Two events are solely run by the City including;
- Splash into Fun with Playgroup Victoria, celebrating Nation Playgroup Week, held in March each year. (Target audience under school age).
- FunLoong Fun Day, celebrating National Children’s Week held in October each year. This is our major event attracting over 3,000 children & families to a fun, free day of activities & live entertainment. (Target audience 0-12 years)
The successful completion of a Working With Children and Police check is mandatory for volunteering for Early Years Events at City of Greater Bendigo.
(Both checks are free of charge in a voluntary capacity).

Heathcote Visitor Centre
The Heathcote Visitor Centre is currently seeking applications from volunteers to join our wonderful vibrant team. The Heathcote Visitor Centre is an Accredited Centre aiming to provide outstanding customer service to the tourism business in the Heathcote region, with annual visitation of approximately 17,000 people. The Visitor Centre is operated by the City of Greater Bendigo and is the tourism “shop front” for the Heathcote and Region.

Intercultural Ambassador Program
Intercultural Ambassador Program
Every two years the City recruits 10 Intercultural Ambassador volunteers who represent a diverse range of multicultural and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds in our community. The Ambassadors will participate in community events and projects, City advisory and reference groups and attend civic functions. They will also act as champions for their existing communities and gain valuable leadership and development opportunities. Our Program is based on the successful City of Ballarat Multicultural Ambassadors Program. Funding for the Pilot Program has been provided by the Victorian Government.

Student Work Placement Program
- The City is unable to guarantee a placement.
- Student Work Placements are sought after and limited.
- When answering the application questions use examples where possible in your response.
- Use your response to every question as an opportunity to standout from everyone else.
- If you have a resume, this will help us learn more about you and your skills.
- You may also have to meet with us in person to discuss your application further.
- Refer to this checklist before you start the application form as you may need to obtain further information.

- Preference will be given to students living and studying at schools in the City of Greater Bendigo.
- The Student Handbook and quiz forms part of your induction.
- The processing of your application can take a minimum of two weeks
- All students need to be attending an educational institution or an approved home schooled program that is secondary school equivalent.
- (Work Experience only students are paid at $5.00 a day for the five days via Electronic Funds Transfer, so you will need to provide us with your account details including your Bank's BSB number.)

Young Women in STEM Work Placement Program
The City of Greater Bendigo (the City) is proud to present the Young Women in STEM work placement program for young women in Years 9-10 in schools across Greater Bendigo.
The Young Women in STEM program provides young women with an insider view into what STEM roles look like within local government.
The City is a local government in Greater Bendigo which is located in the geographic heart of Victoria and is the state’s third largest economy. The City is a primary employer and service provider within the region, employing over 1,000 staff who deliver 65 core services to a growing population of more than 121,000 residents across 3,000 square kilometres.
The City is committed to advancing gender equality in the workplace and in the community. The Young Women in STEM work placement program supports the City’s aim to have strong and diverse teams that deliver high quality services to the community.
The Young Women in STEM program offers week-long placements across nominated business units that offer STEM-related roles.
