Community Group Opportunities

Shelter Movers ( Edmonton and Region)

Location: Edmonton & Surrounding Area

Position 1:

  • Assist lead movers with moving client belongings from location to location

Qualifications:

  • Ability to lift over 15lbs and stand for periods of time
  • Ability to work with others 
  • Maintain clear communications 
  • Handle client belongings with care
  •  awareness of boundaries
  • Must have own transportation
  • OH&S training will be provided/ Must wear closed toes footwear

Schedule:

  • Shifts - Flexible and vary based on needs of move & volunteers
  • Approx. 4 - 6 hrs. per move

Position 2:

  • Assist lead movers with moving client belongings from location to location using your own vehicle

Qualifications:

  • Ability to lift over 15lbs and stand for periods of time
  • Ability to work with others 
  • Maintain clear communications 
  • Handle client belongings with care
  •  awareness of boundaries
  • Must have own transportation/ provide drivers abstract
  • Van/ Truck is preferred 
  • OH&S training will be provided/ Must wear closed toes footwear

Schedule:

  • Shifts - Flexible and vary based on needs of move & volunteers
  • Approx. 4 - 6 hrs. per move

November 29 - December 31

5:00pm  - 9:00 pm  Sun - Thurs

5:00  -  10:00 pm  Fri & Sat

5:00 - 8:00 pm Christmas Eve

Closed Christmas Day

Since the beginning of the Leduc Country Lights, there has always been a high demand for volunteers. Because we are 100% volunteer ran, we can always use the help! Click this link to learn more and sign up!

 

Positions Needed:

  1. Admission
    • Needed everyday to greet visitors and take admission fees
    • Qualifications: interacting with public, standing for long periods of time
  2. Parking
    • Needed everyday
    • Qualifications: interacting with public, standing for long periods of time, managing the flow of traffic
  3. Santa's Helper
    • Needed on Friday & Saturday 5-10pm and Sundays 5-9pm
    • Qualifications: interacting with public, help Santa with the children, manage the line to see Santa
    • Costumes available

Good Neighbours - Block Connector

What is a Block Connector?
Block Connectors are residents who are willing to chat with the closest 10-20 households on their block, connect at an activity once a year and receive training offered through our Family & Community Support Services team. 

Do you have the traits of a Block Connector?
Block Connectors are trustworthy, friendly, open, kind and attentive. They are interested in meeting new people, building connections and bringing people together. Does this sound like you? If so, we would love to hear from you!

What do Connectors do?
As a Block Connector, you would be asked to:

  • Have a chat with 10-20 households on your block
  • Help connect neighbours at an activity once per year
  • Attend connector orientation
  • Act as a contact person for your street, apartment or condo complex
