Leduc & District Food Bank

Position Details: 

Morning into afternoon
 
Positions Available: 
  • Drivers
    • This position will work with a partner and share driving responsibilities
      Pickup donations within Leduc, Beaumont and Devon. Food bank Vans are used for pick ups
    • 4 positions available 
    • Mon., Wed., Fri. 7:15 am – early afternoon
    • Qualifications:
      • Minimum age 18 yrs. 
      • Criminal records check 
      • Drivers abstract 
      • Ability to lift up to 30- 50lbs 
  • Warehouse Volunteers 
    • This position consists of sorting food donations, assisting with our recycling program, and helping with other tasks as needed.
    • 4 positions available 
    • Weekday- Mornings
    • Qualifications: 
      • Minimum age 18 yrs. 
      • Drivers abstract 
      • Criminal records check (letter supplied for crime check) 
      • Ability to lift is helpful but not mandatory

Leduc Grain Elevator - CPKC Holiday Train Warming station Volunteers

Alberta Legacy Development Society

Organization mission

To operate the Leduc Heritage Grain Elevator as an educational, historical site and, to develop viable and sustainable concepts that will benefit Canadians in the education of our children and the children of generations to come.

 

Organization  Volunteer functions (Purpose)

Warming Station Supervisors: Join the Leduc Grain Elevator as a volunteer on December 11th. The CP Holiday Train will be stopping just south of our location at the Confusion Corner (46 St & 50th Ave) intersection. There will be two performances from 8:30 pm to 9:00 pm. There will be propane warming stations set up around the south side of our site. The stations will be turned off once the performance starts.

We will be offering a Santa Claus photo opportunity (visitors use own phone/camera) from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Leduc Co-op Grocery Store has donated small candy canes for the participants.

Tim Horton’s is donating hot chocolate and Tim Bits (not on site).

Garfield and Odie’s Food truck will be located onsite.

 

Tasks

1. Supervise Warming stations: Make sure visitors maintain a safe distance and keep an eye on propane levels

Time Commitment

From 6:00 pm to approximately 9:30 pm

Skill requirement

  1. Comfortable with propane devices.
  2. Interacting with the public.

Supervision

This is a highly independent task.

Down Town Business Association - Santa Claus Parade 2024

Your time ensures the success of this wonderful family friendly community event.  Be part of the action and volunteer today all while getting to enjoy an incredible event.

 

Pre-Parade Activities: 4:30 PM – 6:00PM

Parade 6 PM – 7 PM

Take Down 7 – 7:30PM

Location: City of Leduc – Downtown District Area

 

Position 1: Barricade Attendant (On Parade Route) (50 people)

Schedule of Position:

  • Saturday November 30, 2024  
  • 5pm – 7:30pm (times may vary by location)

Qualifications:

  • No experience necessary, you must be able to move a wood barricade out of the way for emergency vehicles.
  • (We request that volunteers be 16+. Volunteers between 10 and 16 are encouraged to sign up and be accompanied by an adult as we try to put 2 people together at each station._

 

Position 2:  Traffic Control + Barricade Attendant (Off Parade Route) (20 people)

Schedule of Position:

  • General timeframe (but will vary by position) 4:30pm – 7:30pm on Saturday November 30, 2024

Qualifications:

  • Some experience or training from our team will be required. Looking for adults 18+.
  •  

Position 3: Food Handler (6 people)

                Schedule of Position:

  • Saturday November 25, 2023  
  • 4:45 PM – 5:55 PM (then you can watch the parade)

Qualifications:

  • Ability to distribute A LOT of hot chocolate & popcorn bags to the public.
  •  

Position 4 : Santa’s Assistant (2 People)

Schedule of Position:

  • Saturday November 30, 2024  
  • 4:00pm - 5:50 PM (then you can watch the parade)

Qualifications:

  • Manage line ups, and assist those waiting to take photos with Santa. Be great with kids and families creating a fun atmosphere.

               Schedule of Position:   October 20th, 26th, and 27th  10am-3pm

               Qualifications:  Lifting 20+ lbs., interacting with other volunteers, bending down to work on small decorations

Position 2:

               Name of Position:  Gate Admission

               Schedule of Position:  November 30th – December 31st  5pm-9pm

               Qualifications:   Interacting with public, standing for long periods of time

Position 3:

               Name of Position:  Parking attendant

               Schedule of Position: December Weekends Fri, Sat, Sun 5pm-10pm

               Qualifications:   interacting with public, standing for long periods of time, managing the flow of traffic

Position 4:

               Name of Position:  Santa’s helper

               Schedule of Position: December Weekends Fri, Sat, Sun 5pm-10pm

               Qualifications:   interacting with public, help Santa with the children, manage the line to see Santa
