Hume City Council Volunteering
Hume City Council recognises and values the contribution that volunteers make to our local community supporting our programs. Our volunteer programs are integrated with our broader Council vision and objectives.
Applying to volunteer in a few simple steps:
- To view the current Volunteering opportunities, scroll down the page.
- Click on the volunteer role and read carefully the information to ensure you understand about the opportunity, the skills and experiences for the role.
- To apply, click the "Fill in an application" for the volunteering opportunity you are interested in currently below on display .
Your volunteer application is an expression of interest only and will be forward to the relevant department recruiting for volunteers and a Council staff officer will contact you to discuss further your interest in the volunteering role.
Council is strongly committed to Child Safety and has a comprehensive screening and induction process for volunteers.
As part of the process, some volunteer roles may be required to:
- Attend an interview with Council staff officers
- Attend a group information session
- Complete a National Criminal History Check (via FIT2WORK)
- Have a current Victorian Working with Children Check card (with our organisation successfully added to your card)
- Driver’s Licence checks
- Complete a Health Declaration form
- Provide evidence of your COVID–19 vaccination or having a valid medical exemption
These will be explained at the time of an interview with Council staff who manage the volunteer program.

Sunbury Community Health
Are you interested in volunteering at Sunbury Community Health?
Our people are our greatest asset and our volunteers are vital to the success of the services we offer.
There are two ways to volunteer with us, either sign on as a regular volunteer at Sunbury Community Health or join our casual Volunteer pool, or both!
Do you want to become a regular volunteer at Sunbury Community Health?
From assisting with children’s programs, helping young adults with a disability, to leading walking groups, our volunteers play an important role.
Please note that we only place ongoing potential volunteers when suitable vacancies arise.
Do you want sign up as part of our casual Volunteer Bank?
We’re hoping to have a ‘bank’ of social volunteers who want to invest some of their spare time back into the Sunbury community (young people too!).
It is less formal process than becoming a volunteer. Volunteering opportunities are varied and won’t necessarily involve a regular or ongoing commitment.
Activities could include helping out at our Communi-tea van at community events. We’ll let you know what’s coming up, when and where, then you can let us know if you want to be a part of it!
We are seeking expression of interest from any member of the community (18 years and over).
