Banksia Gardens Community Services - Sustainability Programs
Hume City Council Volunteering
Hume City Council recognises and values the contribution that volunteers make to our local community supporting our programs. Our volunteer programs are integrated with our broader Council vision and objectives.
Applying to volunteer in a few simple steps:
- To view the current Volunteering opportunities, scroll down the page.
- Click on the volunteer role and read carefully the information to ensure you understand about the opportunity, the skills and experiences for the role.
- To apply, click the "Fill in an application" for the volunteering opportunity you are interested in currently below on display .
Your volunteer application is an expression of interest only and will be forward to the relevant department recruiting for volunteers and a Council staff officer will contact you to discuss further your interest in the volunteering role.
Council is strongly committed to Child Safety and has a comprehensive screening and induction process for volunteers.
As part of the process, some volunteer roles may be required to:
- Attend an interview with Council staff officers
- Attend a group information session
- Complete a National Criminal History Check (via FIT2WORK)
- Have a current Victorian Working with Children Check card (with our organisation successfully added to your card)
- Driver’s Licence checks
- Complete a Health Declaration form
- Provide evidence of your COVID–19 vaccination or having a valid medical exemption
These will be explained at the time of an interview with Council staff who manage the volunteer program.

St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria
Our Mission & Vision
The St Vincent de Paul Society is a lay Catholic organisation that aspires to live the gospel message by serving Christ in the poor with love, respect, justice, hope and joy, and by working to shape a more just and compassionate society. The Society aspires to be recognised as a caring Catholic charity offering “a hand up” to people in need. We do this by respecting their dignity, sharing our hope, and encouraging them to take control of their own destiny.
The benefits of becoming a member / volunteer
Society members are passionate about helping those in need in their local community and work together in groups known as 'Conferences' that are usually attached to; parishes, schools, universities, social groups, workplaces, or groups of individuals from the local area.
The Society would not exist without its members and volunteers; they are the Society. They live their faith in action by visiting people in their homes or in the community, providing friendship and support to those they serve and to each other. They are called to seek out the poor and marginalised wherever they may be.
Each day across Australia more than 20,000 Society members continue to visit people in their homes so that the Society can provide the best possible assistance. Members assist people in a number of ways including providing people with referral information, advocacy, food or food vouchers, clothing, furniture, budget support, assistance with utility bills or back to school costs
