Goonawarra Neighbourhood House is a non-profit, community-controlled organisation based in Sunbury. We work with the local community to identify and address community needs and run programs and services that improve the social, environmental and cultural infrastructure of our community. Volunteer Opportunities

Committee Member Volunteer

Goonawara Neighbourhood House is managed by an elected Committee of Management made up of local volunteers.

We are seeking new committee members to join and expand our current committee, allowing the committee to take on additional projects such as fundraising.

This is an excellent opportunity to help shape Goonawarra NH and make fantastic social connections!

List of tasks

Engaging in bi-monthly Committee meetings
Attending occasional Goonawarra Neighbourhood House events
Reviewing Agenda, Minutes and Discussion items
Providing input, ideas, and perspectives on business items affecting the houses’ operations
Role-specific tasks apply to Executive Members (Secretary, Treasurer, Deputy-Chair)

Key Details

Hours: Our committee meets online once every two months, on Tuesday evenings, for about an hour. Committee members are also encouraged to attend occasional events at the house or in the community.

Commitment: 12 Months. Roles are reviewed at Annual General Meetings.

Key relationships: Chairperson & Committee Members, House Manager

Key Selection Criteria

Required

National Criminal History Check (we will reimburse you for the associated cost)
Working with Children Check (Volunteer)
Australian Charities & Not-for-profit responsible persons check

The current Committee interviews prospective members.

Desirable (but not required)

This role would be suited to individuals with a background in governance, human resources, accounting, community development, business management, or any skills that will help keep a small community organisation meet its business and compliance outcomes.
