Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive

Food Sorting 

Saturday, May 11th - 11am to 6pm

Volunteers sort food into food categories for distribution. Check dates on donated food to make sure the food item has not expired. You must be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds. This position involves standing for the entire shift.

About the Food Drive

The Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger® Food Drive is an annual community service effort organized by the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC). On the second Saturday in May, letter carriers across the United States head out on their routes to collect non-perishable food items from generous postal customers. Since its launch in 1993, this initiative has grown into the nation’s largest one-day food drive, benefiting local food pantries and helping to fill the shelves of food banks in cities and towns throughout the country.

Food Pantry

Food Pantry is open Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays from 12:30PM-3:30PM.

The food pantry volunteers are needed to help receive in foods, check dates, stock shelves, build orders/bags, greet clients, keep the pantry clean and organized, and assisting participants.

  • Must be able to stand for the entire shift.
  • Must be able to lift 10 lbs.
  • All volunteers will be required to take the Safe From Harm online training prior to volunteering.

  • We have the pantry open in Beloit on Tuesdays & Thursdays.
  • We have the pantry open in Janesville on Monday, Wednesday & Friday.

Polar Packs

The Polar Pack Program combats food insecurity for students of North Star Montessori Academy. The packs contain nutritious, easy to prepare food items which include breakfasts, lunches, and snacks. During the 2022-2023 school year, 2,000 packs were distributed to qualifying students.

Volunteers are needed to assemble packs on Wednesdays at 2pm, weekly throughout the school year.

Spring Flowers.....Yardwork Volunteers Needed

Waukesha Salvation Army is in need of some Spring Flowers .....

Are you interested in spending time outside in the warm summer weather, while helping keep your community looking its best?

Waukesha Salvation Army is looking for volunteers that can assist with planting flowers and basic yardwork. This is a good opportunity for groups looking for a one-time project or individuals looking for an ongoing volunteer opportunity.

Volunteer duties may include planting flowers, pulling weeds, raking leaves, and mulching.

Volunteer times can be flexible to meet your schedule.

Feed the Kids

Meal Prep & Distribution

We need volunteers to help with Feed the Kids a FREE summer lunch program. The program goes for 8 weeks during the summer to help kids have access to a healthy lunch that they would usually get at school.  Feed the Kids happens on weekdays Monday-Friday.   

****The volunteers will meet in the morning in the dining room on the second floor at our location 445 Madison Street Waukesha*****

Volunteers are needed to help prepare the lunches. Volunteers will be making sandwiches, cutting fruits and veggies, bagging snacks, and assembling lunches. Lunches will be distributed every weekday at Sentinel Park in Waukesha from 12pm-12:30pm. 

Feed the Kids is a fun and rewarding summer volunteer opportunity that helps serve children and families in Waukesha.

 

All volunteers must complete the online volunteer application along with a background check and Safe From Harm training is required for all volunteers prior to volunteering.
