Janesville - Flexable hours Monday - Friday from 8:30am to 3pm
Beloit - Flexable hours Tuesday - Friday from 8:30am to 3pm
Food Pantry
JANESVILLE: Food Pantry is open Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays from 12:30PM-3:30PM.
BELOIT: Food Pantry is open Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays from 10AM-2:30PM.
The food pantry volunteers are needed to help receive in foods, check dates, stock shelves, build orders/bags, greet clients, keep the pantry clean and organized, and assisting participants.
- Must be able to stand for the entire shift.
- Must be able to lift 10 lbs.
- All volunteers will be required to take the Safe From Harm online training prior to volunteering.

Role Overview:
The Salvation Army of Rock County is seeking reliable volunteers to assist in our kitchen operations at our meal sites in Janesville and Beloit. Volunteers will work closely with the kitchen staff to help manage inventory, ensure proper food storage, and assist with daily operational tasks. This position plays a vital role in supporting our efforts to serve the community effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with inventory management and stock rotation
- Pull food items for defrosting
- Take and record daily temperatures of food storage areas
- Maintain organized kitchen and storage spaces
- Ensure food safety protocols are followed (ServeSafe preferred)
- Work independently after initial training, on days when the Kitchen Coordinator is not on-site
Qualifications & Requirements:
- ServeSafe certification or Back of the House experience (preferred)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and reach stock on high and low shelves
- Attention to detail and ability to follow food safety guidelines
- Must be able to work independently after initial training
- Commitment to volunteer on a regular basis, with flexibility on scheduling
Training:
- Volunteers will receive on-site training for all required tasks, including inventory management, temperature recording, and food handling procedures.

Dining Room Attendant 11:30am-1:00pm
Greet clients as the enter for lunch. Assist in our dining room as needed. You may restock silverware, refill beverages, talk or pray with our clients, etc.

Learn to work in our kitchen! Help with food prep and serve the meal from the kitchen. Help with cleanup and possibly dishes after the meal.

2024 Kroc Family Fun Nights
Join us for Family Fun!
Volunteers needed to help with various tasks on our Family Fun Night events.
Tasks would include greeting guests, direct guests in building, help with craft, snack, or activity, and assist with end of event duties (clean up and closing).
Time frame 5:15-8:00pm. Shifts can be flexible if needed.
Also, we can provide a free ticket for each volunteer so their child could be part of the night!

Super Senior Days (TSA Kroc Center, 1315 Lime Kiln Rd)
Volunteers will assist seniors with crafts or help call Bingo. Alternate available tasks include light meal prep, serving lunch, clearing tables, and running the dishwasher.

The Social Services Office provides oversight in specific social service programs including Food Pantry, Bread Line, Rental, Transportation, and Utility Assistance as well as other programs offered by the Corps.
C) Seasonal Office
Seasonal volunteer positions supporting the toy shop and community care opportunities.

Assist in our dining room! You may wrap silverware help set up, pour beverages, serve sides & desserts, and assist diners!
Kitchen Help 4:30-6:30pm
Learn to work in our kitchen! Help with food prep and serve the meal from the kitchen. Help with cleaning and dishes after the meal! Volunteers must stay for the entire shift and help with the dishes.
Check-In Desk Volunteer 4:00pm-6:00pm
Assist the Meal Program Coordinator with any task that may need to be done. Each participant must check-in to receive a meal. This volunteer will be responsible for entering the meal for the individual into our database. Volunteers must be comfortable using a computer and database. Basic data entry skills are needed for entering new participants and updating existing participants in the database. Greet and remind all volunteers to sign-in on the volunteer sign-in sheet when they arrive.
All volunteers will be required to take the Safe From Harm online training prior to volunteering.
Drivers!
VOLUNTEER DRIVERS are needed for the upcoming holiday season!
Do you like driving? Do you have a good driving record? We are looking for volunteer drivers to drive to different store locations across Waukesha County and pick up and drop off kettles and bell ringers.
Job Duties: Pick up and drop off kettles or bell ringers at a variety of locations in Waukesha County. Every day we will generate a new route for you to drive. Stop at each location and switch out kettles and when you have completed all the stops on the route you will bring the kettles back to the corps office located at 445 Madison Street Waukesha. Each route varies in the time it takes to complete but should not take more than 2 hours from start to finish. You can drive your own vehicle or if available a Salvation Army vehicle. Volunteer drivers must always drive safely, obey traffic laws, and respect the rights of other drivers. Not only should you concentrate on your own driving, but you should also be aware of the other vehicles around you.
Qualifications: You will need to pass a background check and must have a good driving record. If you will be driving your own vehicle it must have insurance and be reliable.
Community Meal Program
The Community Meal happens every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 5pm-5:40pm.
Volunteers are needed to help serve the meal.
Volunteers assist with serving the meal and with helping in the kitchen.
The volunteer shift is from 4pm-6pm Tues, Thurs, & Saturdays or from 4:30-6:30pm.
All volunteers will be required to take the Safe From Harm online training prior to volunteering.
Food Pantry
The food pantry volunteers are needed to help participants select items from the food pantry shelves. Volunteers will also need to write down the participants information along with stocking shelves, keeping the pantry clean and organized, packing food items and assisting participants.
Food Pantry is open TUESDAYS & WEDNESDAYS from 1PM-4PM and FRIDAYS 9AM-12PM
