Church Ministry Positions
The Salvation Army ministry provides endless opportunities for us to impact our world for God. All of us possess gifts, skills, and passions which prepare us to serve in our Corps and community. Local Officers should possess some ability for the duties they undertake, and seek continually to equip themselves for their role.
Food Pantry
A Food Pantry Volunteer would typically assist with unloading food, stocking shelves, and helping clients with food distribution, ensuring a safe and efficient operation.
- Food Sorting and Packing:
Volunteers would be involved in inspecting donated food for quality and expiration dates, sorting items into categories, and organizing the shelves for the food pantry distribution. - Distribution/Walking others through the food pantry
During pantry hours, volunteers would assist clients in selecting food items and distributing them, potentially checking eligibility and ensuring accurate packing of food sacks or bags. - Unloading Food Rescue Truck:
Volunteers could choose to participate in unloading food donations from delivery trucks and organizing the tables to ensure a smooth and efficient flow of goods during distribution. - Clean-up:
Maintaining a clean and organized workspace is crucial, and volunteers would assist with tasks like breaking down cardboard boxes, emptying trash, and cleaning shelves.
Physical Demands:
Some tasks, such as unloading and stocking, may require lifting and carrying items, so volunteers should be able to handle tasks that involve repetitive bending, reaching, and lifting up to 20-30 lbs.
Janitorial/Cleaning
A Janitorial Maintenance Volunteer assists with the general cleaning and maintenance of a facility, ensuring it's clean, hygienic, and presentable.

- Cleaning Tasks:
Sweeping, Mopping, and Vacuuming: Maintaining the cleanliness of floors in various areas.
Dusting and Wipe-Down Surfaces: Cleaning tables, chairs, countertops, and other surfaces.
Restroom Maintenance: Cleaning, sanitizing, and restocking restrooms.
Window Cleaning: Cleaning interior and exterior windows.
Maintaining Common Areas: Keeping lobbies, hallways, and meeting rooms tidy. - Reporting Issues:
Identifying and reporting any maintenance issues or needed repairs to supervisors. - Following Safety Procedures:
Adhering to all safety rules and precautions when using cleaning supplies and equipment. - Additional Duties:
Supporting Staff: Assisting other staff members with tasks as needed. - Organizing and Stocking: Replenishing cleaning supplies and organizing storage areas.

Our Thrift Store supports our efforts in serving the community of Douglas County. Join us in helping the store succeed!
Specific tasks may include:
- Sorting Donations: Identifying and separating donated items as requested.
Merchandise Organization: Displaying and organizing items on shelves, racks, or tables in a visually appealing and accessible manner. - Hanging Clothes: Sorting and hanging clothes as requested.
- Customer Service: Answering customer questions, assisting, and providing a positive shopping experience.
- Store Cleaning: Maintaining a clean and organized store environment.
- Other Tasks: Carrying in donations, bringing purchases to shoppers' cars, and other tasks as needed.
Youth Groups
