Emergency Disaster Service
Emergency Disaster Services provides a food and beverage service to emergency teams that respond to disasters in Dane County. Local disasters include destructive storms, house fires and other community disasters that need police, firefighters and/or EMT services. Shifts vary depending on the time of day emergencies occur, some carry on late into the evening and can require several hours of service.
Volunteers interested in Emergency Disaster Services are required to attend training sessions before volunteer shifts are assigned.

General Cleaning
There are many opportunities to clean and maintain our various locations. This is a very important area of need in that we have many different activities going on throughout the week.
Revolution
Revolution is our Wednesday Night Youth Program. Youth are picked up from area schools, given a snack and dinner. We also do singing, devotional, games and music lessons. All these require many adult volunteers to assist and mentor the youth.
The Light Teen Center
The Light is a wonderful place for teens in 7th-12th grades to come and hang out, make new friends, interact with caring adults and see Jesus reflected.

Touched Twice
Touched Twice is an annual ecumenical outreach event that helps individuals in our community in practical and spiritual ways.
The event happens the second Saturday in August and requires many hands to make light work.

Polar Packs
The Polar Pack Program combats food insecurity for students of North Star Montessori Academy. The packs contain nutritious, easy to prepare food items which include breakfasts, lunches, and snacks. During the 2022-2023 school year, 2,000 packs were distributed to qualifying students.
Volunteers are needed to assemble packs on Wednesdays at 2pm, weekly throughout the school year.

Community Meal Program
The Community Meal happens every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 5pm-5:40pm.
Volunteers are needed to help serve the meal.
Volunteers assist with serving the meal and with helping in the kitchen.
The volunteer shift is from 4pm-6pm Tues, Thurs, & Saturdays or from 4:30-6:30pm.
All volunteers will be required to take the Safe From Harm online training prior to volunteering.
Food Pantry
The food pantry volunteers are needed to help participants select items from the food pantry shelves. Volunteers will also need to write down the participants information along with stocking shelves, keeping the pantry clean and organized, packing food items and assisting participants.
Food Pantry is open TUESDAYS & WEDNESDAYS from 1PM-4PM and FRIDAYS 9AM-12PM
- Must be able to stand for the entire shift.
- Must be able to lift 10 lbs.
- All volunteers will be required to take the Safe From Harm online training prior to volunteering.

Opportunities in this category are for volunteers who want to help with Christmas activities that include registering families for Christmas assistance, Toy Shop set-up, and distribution of Christmas gifts. Volunteers simply fill out a short application and choose from available shifts that fit into your schedule. Each shift has a limited number of people that can sign up.
Groups are urged and encouraged to sign up. One person can sign up the group. After signing up a group, please email Colleen.hilber@usc.salvationarmy.org, with the number of people in the group so that we can keep track of the number of people signed up.
Please, we ask that no one under the age of 16 helps as a volunteer in these activities without prior approval. We ask this due to the sensitivity of the program and protecting the privacy of the families that need assistance.

These activities will be working along side our Social Service department with Case managers, intake workers and residents. Outreach will be working with homeless. You will be working as team in all areas.
