Qualifications

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED

  • Must be willing to complete a volunteer/background application and attend Safe From Harm training prior to beginning position

  • Must pass criminal background check

  • Must have an ability and desire to be with children and youth

  • Flexibility required to work afternoons Monday through Friday, and possibly Saturday

  • Will act in a manner consistent with the Mission Statement of The Salvation Army

  • College Degree or current enrollment in college  

     

 

Job Duties

  • Supervise children and youth during structured and unstructured activities, sports activities, field trips and snack times.

  • Will ensure the safety of children and youth and respond appropriately to emergency situations

  • Enable children and youth to experience success, providing opportunities for discussion on individual or group concerns, taking advantage of teachable moments

  • Will perform any additional responsibilities and duties as assigned by the youth director and/or youth supervisor

  • Assist a child with school work

  •  Required to fill out evaluation forms

There are many opportunities to clean and maintain our various locations. This is a very important area of need in that we have many different activities going on throughout the week.

Revolution

Revolution is our Wednesday Night Youth Program. Youth are picked up from area schools, given a snack and dinner. We also do singing, devotional, games and music lessons. All these require many adult volunteers to assist and mentor the youth.

Touched Twice

Touched Twice is an annual ecumenical outreach event that helps individuals in our community in practical and spiritual ways. 

The event happens the second Saturday in August and requires many hands to make light work.

Driver

As our Worship & Community Center programming continues to grow, we are in need of a volunteer Driver for our special programs.

The volunteer Driver will drive program participants between their homes and the program locations. Hours are every Wednesday 9-10:30 and/or 2-3:30  Another adult chaperone will accompany each trip.  Completion of Safe From Harm training is required along with a background and motor vehicle driving check.

Janitorial/Maintenance

If you're a retiree or someone who has a few hours a week to give back, we would love to have you join our volunteer team as a Custodian.  The minimum age for this position is 18. (Background check is required before volunteering can begin).

This position includes the routine upkeep of The Salvation Army Community Center at 4129 W. Villard Ave. Some of the duties would include: Mopping, vacuuming, washing windows, emptying waste baskets, and cleaning bathrooms, lawn maintenance and snow removal.

We are happy to work around your hours any weekday between 9:00am and 3:30pm.

Volunteers are required to have a background check and take Safe From Harm training, and must be able to lift a minimum of 10 lbs., reach and climb ladders.  If you have previous custodial experience we would welcome your help.  If not, we are happy to train you.

Office Assistant

We're looking for a cheerful. part-time volunteer Receptionist to help us welcome visitors to the Citadel Worship & Community Center.

We are located at 4129 W. Villard Avenue.

Responsibilities include answering phone calls, welcoming and directing visitors to our building, light office work and answering questions about ongoing programs, upcoming activities and scheduled events.

Sheboygan Country Warming Center is hosted by The Salvation Army and staffed by volunteers from local churches to shelter those in need when the temperature drops below freezing in January and February.

Each month Wells Fargo will hold a budgeting class in the Emergency Lodge. This fun class consists of 1-2 volunteers teaching the importance of budgeting concepts through fun games in a laid back atmosphere. Each class lasts 30-45 minutes long.
