Volunteer position description
PURPOSE
To help provide a welcoming environment to support participants of the weekly social games activity.
LOCATION
Diamond Creek Neighbourhood House, 119 Cowin St, Diamond Creek
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- In collaboration with the Neighbourhood House Coordinator and other volunteers, support a range of games and activities to provide a social connection avenue for local residents.
- Assist participants in feeling comfortable and engaging easily with other participants and foster a relaxed and friendly environment.
- Keep up to date attendance records.
- Continually evaluate and adjust the program to meet the needs of participants.
- Assist with promotional activities
- Attend an annual review meeting
- General administration duties
- Enter required data into the volunteer management database in Better Impact
REPORTS TO
Neighbourhood House Coordinator
TIME COMMITMENT
2 hours per week during term time (Thursday afternoons)
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Ability to demonstrate or clearly communicate information, ideas or skills
- Ability to facilitate engagement by all participants in the activity
- Enjoy interacting with people
- Enthusiasm for life-long learning
SUPPORT
Organisational induction training will be provided. All Living & Learning Nillumbik volunteer supervisors provide an open door communication environment for volunteers encouraging any questions to be asked and concerns to be raised
SECURITY CHECKS
- Police Check
- Two reference checks
- Completion of the Child Safe Standards online training with NSC is mandatory
Criminal Background Checks
If your role requires you to work with vulnerable members of the community, valuable Council assets or confidential information, the position has a requirement for a criminal background check. It is also a requirement that you advise Council if you are convicted of a criminal charge during the term of your volunteer position.

Nillumbeats FReeZA Committee
Want to gain work experience in music events management?
Do you love live music? Always wanted to run events?
We’re on the lookout for young people to stage local events and festivals through our Nillumbeats FReeZa program! No experience required - just a love of music and events.
Past events run by Nillumbeats include the All Ages Tour, St Andrews Sounds and the Nillumbeats Short Film Festival.
Benefits of being a Nillumbeats committee member:

Key Requirements:
- A love for live music, performing arts and recreational events
- Be aged between 15 to 24 years
- Live, work, study or play within Nillumbik Shire
- be able to attend fortnightly meetings on Thursdays 4:30-6:00pm and volunteer at events.
- An interest and/or experience in live music gigs, event management / planning, or a willingness to learn
