British Red Cross Charity Shops
Mission Statement
The British Red Cross helps people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are. We are part of a global voluntary network, responding to conflicts, natural disasters and individual emergencies.
We enable vulnerable people in the UK and abroad to prepare for and withstand emergencies in their own communities. And when the crisis is over, we help them to recover and move on with their lives.
We have approximately 320 retail outlets in the UK and represent a significant fundraising arm of the British Red Cross. The shops generate a lot of much-needed income and are a great way to raise the profile of the charity on the high street. Close to 7 million people visit our shops every year, spending over £25 million in our shops.

CAFOD
Mission Statement
Our network of offices works with the Catholic community in England & Wales to raise funds and awareness of global poverty and injustice through parishes, schools and networks - working with thousands of volunteers and supporters.
Volunteer Roles
Schools volunteer
CAFOD is looking for people to visit Catholic Schools to deliver a lively presentation about its work and mission. Volunteers can specialise in either Primary or Secondary schools.
CAFOD will provide support and training and will supply suitable materials to deliver the presentations.
The opportunity is during school hours with times to suit the school and the volunteer. On average one visit a month is required.
The work also involves contacting the allocated schools, negotiating arrangements for visits, and following up with any necessary correspondence.

Dan Eley Foundation, The (Godalming)
Mission Statement

Our mission is to enhance the educational or personal development of young people living in a situation of need or at risk. The charity does this by sponsoring targeted interventions, both curricular and extracurricular, that achieve that aim.
New Trustee
Trustee
We are currently six trustees, however we have an age bias towards seniority and we need some 'younger blood' on the board. We are looking for someone who has had experience, or is currently working 'on the coal face' with young people from a disadvantage cohort. Experience of governance is a bonus but not essential, as well as publicity/fundraising skills. We are a diverse range of individuals on the board with differing skill sets and experience. Our trustee meetings are vibrant, dynamic with culture of respect. Everyone has the opportunity to have their voice heard.
Obligations of the role:
We meet three times a year (usually Monday evenings) for full trustee meetings. During these meetings we discuss important things like: charity cash flow, risks, charity activities and fundraising events. We also review and decide/approve recent applications for funding. Also, trustees can volunteer to help out at fundraising events if they are available, or with efforts to publicise the charity and/or events, although this is not essential. I believe right person could find the role very rewarding.
Human Appeal
Mission Statement
We are an international relief and development agency that asks the question, what makes us human? We think the answer is caring for others and changing their lives for the better. That’s what we’ve been doing for over 25 years.
We started in a small flat in Manchester, UK, and this year we have worked in 24 countries, providing humanitarian aid that saves and transforms lives. That’s what makes us Human Appeal.
Our generous donors, supporters and partners have helped us work towards our mission for the past 25+ years. They give us Human Appeal.
General Interests
Mary's Meals
Mission Statement
Our vision is that every child receives one daily meal in their place of education and that all those who have more than they need, share with those who lack even the most basic things. Working together with those who share our vision, we believe there is no good reason why this cannot be realised.
Mary’s Meals is a global movement supported by people from many walks of life and different backgrounds. Our mission is to enable people to offer their money, goods, skills, time, or prayer, and through this involvement, provide the most effective help to those suffering the effects of extreme poverty in the world’s poorest communities.
