Cherry Trees is a charity where children with complex disabilities visit to have amazing fun while their families have a short break from their caring responsibilities. We are looking for some friendly Children's Care Worker volunteers to join our team and have fun every time you visit. No two times will be the same; you could be having fun with a child in our soft play, out on a visit to a local farm or baking cookies!  It's rewarding and our teams are really friendly. 

We are looking for people to volunteer for all or part of the following shift times (min 4 hours). 

7am - 2pm, 2pm to 9pm, 10am - 6pm. 

We are open all year round and especially need help during school holidays and at weekends. All relevant training will be given.

 No previous or professional cooking experience is needed, just a joy of cooking and a desire to help. The slots we are looking to cover are listed below. You do not need to cover all of these, and we can break down or split down the slots too. Essentially, if this may be of interest, please get in touch.

Could you help us by driving our minibus for school drop off or pick up?

We drop off or collect children from their school every morning and afternoon. Our care staff are there to take care of the children, so your focus will be on driving the bus. You do not need to have a special licence or take a further test. We do ask that you complete a 1 hour driving assessment but this is more about getting used to the vehicle. 

• Morning drop off: 08.30 – 09.30
• Afternoon pickup: 14:30 - 15:30

Could you help us our facilities in shape?

From cleaning windows, to cutting grass and hedges, we are looking for regular help to keep Cherry Trees clean, tidy and safe. There is no set pattern, but would ideally look for regularly support across the year to keep on top of the external areas. No previous experience is needed and we will provide all the tools and equipment needed.  

We are currently six trustees, however we have an age bias towards seniority and we need some 'younger blood' on the board. We are looking for someone who has had experience, or is currently working 'on the coal face' with young people from a disadvantage cohort. Experience of governance is a bonus but not essential, as well as publicity/fundraising skills. We are a diverse range of individuals on the board with differing skill sets and experience. Our trustee meetings are vibrant, dynamic with culture of respect. Everyone has the opportunity to have their voice heard.

Obligations of the role:
We meet three times a year (usually Monday evenings) for full trustee meetings. During these meetings we discuss important things like: charity cash flow, risks, charity activities and fundraising events. We also review and decide/approve recent applications for funding. Also, trustees can volunteer to help out at fundraising events if they are available, or with efforts to publicise the charity and/or events, although this is not essential. I believe right person could find the role very rewarding.

This is not only because of our central location, right in the heart of Guildford, but because of our ethos and commitment to provide top notch activities for young people.

Our superb location, perched on the banks of the River Wey near the National Trust's Dapdune Wharf, is so close to the water that you can touch it. And this fits well with our aim; to give young people the opportunity to get out onto the water, gain confidence and have a lot of laughs at the same time.

We want to keep our cadets active both on an off the water. Long evenings in the Summer months mean loads of time on the water: Kayaking, sailing, rowing and driving power boats. Then when the nights draw cold and you think that all we can do is in a classroom you find we keep active: rock climbing, leadership games and activities and sports games.

We currently have 65 cadets, male and female aged between 10 and 18, of whom 16 are Royal Marine Cadets.

We have a wide range of facilities and instructional staff which means we can offer you the opportunity to learn new skills in a safe environment whilst having loads of fun!

We are looking for volunteers to supervise and train(once qualified) cadets - boys and girls aged from 10 to 18. Activities include canoeing, sailing (including offshore opportunities), PE, shooting, expeditions (including D of E awards), catering etc. Also classroom instruction in engineering, seamanship, communications, etc.

When Required - Uniformed instructors - 2 weekday evenings

                      - Civilian instructors - 1 evening

                      - Casual helpers - as available (U25V)

Description of Volunteer Role - We are looking for volunteers to help with the management, fundraising, publicity, insurance, safety personnel and other policy aspects of running a flourishing youth organisation run entirely by volunteers.

Volunteers would be required for one evening per month for committee meetings and occasional visits to the unit for other purposes.

The Management Committee meets about 10 times per year and the AGM is from 7.15 to 9.15pm, usually on a Tuesday or Wednesday. There are also some ad hoc meetings when VIPs visit on a Monday or Thursday (probably 2 per year)

Aims of the Role

To support the running of our busy play and activity sessions for children, young people and adults with learning disabilities. Sessions run during the day, in the evenings, at weekends and in school holidays.  We are seeking a team of volunteers with availability at different times.

Key Tasks

• Take part in session briefings so you know what is expected and know how best to get involved.
• Help set up sessions, ensuring the environment is safe and clean, setting up toys and equipment.
• Welcome children, young people and adults to the session and ensure they feel welcome.
• Interact with children, young people and adults as directed by the Group Leaders and sessional staff to enhance their experience.
• Support with getting drinks and snacks ready for children and young people’s breaks.
• Support groups who are going out to community activities or day trips.

The Organisation

LinkAble is a charity in Woking that supports people with a learning disability and autistic people to create the life they want to live. Each year, LinkAble provides over 300 children, young people, and adults access to a wide range of activities that develop skills, confidence, and lasting friendships. 

The Role

Help us raise awareness of LinkAble and support our vital fundraising efforts! We're building a team of enthusiastic volunteers to represent LinkAble at local fairs, fetes, and community events. By joining us, you’ll help spread the word about our work while raising much-needed funds.

Key Tasks

Tasks for volunteers will include any or some the following:

• Setting up and running promotional stalls.

• Holding a tin or bucket at a collection.

• Engaging with members of the public to help promote our services.

• Talks to local groups about our services.

• Serving tea, coffee and cakes at local events.

• Basic administration duties for event organisation.

We'll supply promotional T-shirts and materials. We don't expect you to commit to all events, however attendance of a handful of events would make such a difference, and it's really fun! Once you are on the bank of volunteers, we'll contact you regularly to let you know about events we need help with.

Required Skills

• Physically fit and a careful driver who is confident in driving larger vehicles.
• Volunteer drivers do not need to have completed Midas Minibus training but do need to be over 21, have been driving for 3 years and have a clean driving license. Some vehicles require a D1 license.
• Be confident interacting with children, young people and adults who have learning disabilities, with support.
• Committed to safeguarding principles, reporting and to following the Safeguarding Policy.

Role Purpose

Our Event Volunteer role is vital in ensuring that we can help families of seriously ill children keep moving forward. From Cheer Squads - providing encouragement at cheer points for those participating in challenge events; running stalls at markets and events; helping with bucket collections; attending local events to raise our profile to getting into character as ‘Mo’ our owl mascot. The gift of your time is invaluable to our charity.

What we are looking for in our volunteers

We are looking for enthusiastic, friendly, trustworthy people who enjoy being in a group with other volunteers. Depending on the event, you will need to be able to withstand all weather conditions and be happy to be on your feet… or not! Flexibility, self-motivation and the willingness to motivate others are all great traits for Event Volunteers.   

What’s in it for you?

You will be part of the Momentum team of volunteers and will meet plenty of other like-minded, friendly people at whatever event you choose to get involved in. You will gain satisfaction knowing that you have made a difference to the participants and raised the profile of Momentum at the event.

Hours required

Hours will vary, but it could be anything from 2-6 hours per event. This is an ad-hoc role and we will keep you informed of dates/times that we are looking for volunteer support. We will contact you when we need you and you are under no obligation to accept if you are otherwise busy.

Location

The locations will vary but much of our work and events are based in Surrey, Sussex and South West London.

How we’ll support you

There will be a key point of contact for you from the Momentum office and we’ll give you all the information you need prior to the event, such as meeting points, required resources and points of contact.

All our supported children are given a pebble painted with a character/design of their choice. 

We are always looking for people to paint these pebbles for us.

This is super flexible and can be done at home in your own time!

Purpose of the Role To provide strategic, senior clinical insight and safeguarding expertise at Board level, ensuring Momentum delivers safe, high-quality services that complement NHS care. The postholder will act as the Trustee Clinical and Safeguarding Lead, bringing professional oversight to safeguarding policy and culture across Momentum, and advising on the clinical context of supporting children with cancer, complex health conditions, palliative care and bereavement. Key Responsibilities ▪ Advise on the clinical and psychosocial aspects of Momentum’s services for children, young adults and families in paediatric oncology, complex health conditions, palliative care and bereavement contexts. ▪ Act as the Trustee Safeguarding Lead for the board: provide strategic safeguarding oversight, ensure Momentum’s safeguarding policies are robust, up to date and that the board discharges its statutory safeguarding duties. ▪ Support Board understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and provide assurance that policies, procedures and practice meet regulatory and ethical standards. Ensure that emotional wellbeing and trauma-informed practice is embedded across Momentum’s family and bereavement support and complement NHS/community services without duplication. . ▪ Support partnership working between Momentum and NHS clinical teams, helping maintain effective boundaries between clinical and emotional/wellbeing support. ▪ Work in partnership with the charity’s operational DSLs to provide challenge, advice, and governance assurance rather than day-to-day case management. ▪ Participate in board decision-making, governance, and strategy to maintain safe, impactful services for families. ▪ Champion a safeguarding first culture throughout Momentum and Board, including trustee oversight of policies, staff training, and case escalation. Ensure safeguarding is considered in all strategic decisions. Skills and Experience ▪ NHS Consultant Paediatric Oncologist, Paediatrician, or senior clinician with experience supporting children with cancer or life-challenging conditions. ▪ Current or recent Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or Named Doctor for Safeguarding in an NHS trust or charity context. ▪ Expertise in emotional wellbeing, trauma-informed care, or integrated psychosocial support for families. ▪ Understanding of charity governance and ability to provide strategic oversight in a non-medical, emotional wellbeing service context. Essential: ▪ Senior clinical professional, such as a Consultant Paediatrician, Nurse Consultant/Chief, Advanced Nurse Practitioner, or Specialist Nurse with significant experience in paediatrics, oncology, palliative care, or complex care – or equivalent experience. ▪ Substantial safeguarding knowledge and experience – for example, in a Named Nurse/Doctor role or as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) within the NHS or voluntary sector. ▪ Passionate about holistic family care and emotional support for children with serious illness and bereaved families. ▪ Collaborative and empathetic, able to combine clinical knowledge with a family-centred approach. ▪ Understanding of governance responsibilities in relation to safeguarding, ideally within a non clinical (charity or school) context. ▪ Strategic thinker who can provide challenge and assurance while remaining collaborative and constructive. ▪ Commitment to Momentum’s values of compassion, trust, and inclusion. Oakleaf are looking for volunteers to run activities with clients. 

Oakleaf Enterprise is a Mental Health Charity based in Guildford.  We support adults with their ill-mental health. We do this through three main pathways: work-related training, wellbeing activities and counselling.  

We are continuing to expand our activity offerings and would love to recruit some volunteers to help us run them.  If you have an hour a week, and a skill/passion you think our clients would benefit from let us know!

Oakleaf Enterprise is a Mental Health Charity based in Guildford.  We support adults with their ill-mental health. We do this through three main pathways: work-related training, wellbeing activities and counselling.  

Whether its our annual quiz night, a fire-walk, a dinner dance, a community awareness event we are continuing to expand our volunteer database and would love to recruit some volunteers to help us execute our events.  If you have a free evening once in a while and would like to support your local Mental Health Charity let us know!

Full reception training will be given and appropriate safeguarding adults and GDPR training.

Overview:

Provide general reception support for Oakleaf overseen by the client services manager.

Greet visitors and clients to the building, assisting with general enquiries and directing them to the correct service or department.

Ensure visitors sign in and sign out of the building so that Oakleaf are aware who is in the building at all times.

Monitor visitor movements whilst they are on site.

Receiving external telephone calls and transfer to appropriate staff member, message taking and provide  information regarding Oakleaf services.

Monitor staff Outlook calendars for whereabouts.

Being aware of and promoting Oakleaf services to new visitors and handing out promotional literature where appropriate.

Keeping hard copies of Oakleaf referral forms on reception to hand out to visitors enquiring about becoming an Oakleaf client, for them to take away and complete a daily appointment schedule for client activities, counselling appointments and maintenance visits is available each morning on reception.

Take card payments for services such as counselling and record each transaction.

Keep the reception folder updated with changes to staff and extension numbers.

Keep the reception area clean and tidy.

Monitor the car park to prevent blocking in.

Assist with adhoc administrative tasks.

Replenish supply of activities calendars in reception.

General:

Ensure maintenance of a safe and efficient working environment in accordance with current Health and Safety legislation including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, COSHH Regulations, Environmental Health and EC Directives.

Operate robust and safe levels of practice in regard to lone working.

Perform any other reasonable duties as may be requested by the chief executive.

Oakleaf are looking for volunteers to work in our Horticulture department with our team leaders and clients. 

Oakleaf Enterprise is a Mental Health Charity based in Guildford.  We support adults with their ill-mental health. We do this through three main pathways: work-related training, wellbeing activities and counselling.  

We operate a Gardening service, as a social enterprise, as a way of providing vocational training and work experience for our clients and volunteers. Our services raise funds to help keep Oakleaf operating. If you enjoy working in the open air, with a friendly team, and you have a day, or a half day, available per week, please get in touch.

From selling new and second goods at our community pop up charity shops, attending show's and festivals to supporting our annual Stride for Cancer Care sponsored care, serving walkers with snacks and drinks at the aid stations to cheering people over the finishing line and handing out medals, your support is vital and we could not do all that we do without the wonderful support of volunteers.
