Optimise Foundation

We share the science of female physiology to keep more girls and women healthy, safe and active

Our mission is to communicate latest research on female health, build awareness  and normalise conversations about female physiology in sport, empowering girls and women to get more out of their training, stay healthy and avoid injury.

General Interests

Social Media Volunteer

We are seeking a Social Media Volunteer to help us to communicate with and build our community on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok. We have so much interesting content that we would love to share – about what we are doing, who we are partnering with, where we are delivering workshops next, but also about our latest findings on female health and physiology in sport – because we believe that this information is relevant to all girls and women who aspire to be active and healthy. But we lack the know-how and capacity to share it. Which makes us sad. Because it could really help others. So can you help?

About you:

You don’t need to be sporty, you just need to share our passion to improve the health and welfare of girls and women throughout Surrey and Hampshire, by enabling us to share with them information which we didn’t have growing up, which if we had known would have directly contributed to our own health and wellbeing!

We are a new charity so we don’t have the resources to deliver our social media so you would be filling a very big gap in our organisation. You could work at your own time and when works best for you.

Optimise is completely volunteer run, we all contribute our time and expertise based on a shared desire to help others. We are good at what we do, and our reward is knowing that we are a team, supported, all working towards a shared goal and love of biscuits!

About us:

At Optimise Foundation, we believe every girl and woman deserves the opportunity to thrive in sport, supported by new knowledge and understanding of their unique physiology.

In 2020, 94% of sports performance research focused on men. Women's bodies, with their menstrual cycles and hormonal fluctuations, were largely overlooked — leaving a critical knowledge gap in grassroots sport. We set up Optimise to change that.

We are local volunteer coaches, health professionals, athletes, teachers, and parents — united by a passion to translate cutting-edge female physiology research into practical action across all sports. Our mission is to empower girls and women with the information and support they deserve to optimise their training, performance, and health.

Through consultation, education, and action, we aim to create a world where female athletes of all ages can thrive, and conversations around puberty, periods, and menopause in sport are embraced — not sidelined.

About the role:

We are seeking a Fundraising Writer Volunteer to help identify and submit written applications to potential funders.  We are looking for someone who loves to write and can help us raise funds by drafting and sharing cases for support with Trusts and Foundations. You are organised, happy to work independently at a time that works for you and then feedback when suits. Some experience would be helpful, but the main thing is that you are open and enthusiastic, we can show you the ropes and we have lots of copy for you to draw on and craft from!
