Action for Carers Surrey
Mission Statement
Action for Carers Surrey has a vision ‘to enable all unpaid carers to have a voice and access support to improve their quality of life and wellbeing.’ We are a committed, passionate charity determined to make a difference to young and adult carers across Surrey.
We offer our volunteers a friendly, supportive, flexible experience and are committed to welcoming volunteers from a wide range of backgrounds.
Volunteer Roles
Hub Volunteer
Volunteering within your local community, you will provide help and support at one of our Carer Support Hubs. We are looking for volunteers to support our fortnightly hubs at Guildford (second and fourth Monday), Godalming (first and third Tuesday) and Farnham (first and third Friday).
Working alongside a paid member of staff you, you will:
- Help set up and clear away at the end of hubs
- Welcome carers and help create a relaxed and inviting atmosphere.
- Help carers to sign in.
- Make hot drinks for carers
- Offer an empathetic and listening ear.
- Direct carers to a Carer Support Advisor for signposting for specific support.
- help out with activities such as craft and mindfulness activities to help improve carer's wellbeing
Action for Carers will provide you with any agreed expenses such as mileage or public transport. We will also provide you with induction, training, regular ‘check ins’ with our Volunteers Coordinator and social opportunities such as our Volunteer gathering. Last autumn we thanked our volunteers with a free afternoon tea at Watts gallery in Compton.
