Voluntary Action South West Surrey
Your commitment will contribute to making our community in Guildford and Waverley a better place.
Volunteering involves spending time, unpaid, to do something that is of benefit to others and/or the local environment. There are volunteering opportunities available across Guildford and Waverley with a wide array of organisations. Voluntary Action South West Surrey works with the voluntary, community and public sectors, supporting organisations to develop volunteering opportunities and their volunteering programmes. Our Volunteer Centre matches people who want to volunteer with local organisations seeking volunteers.
VASWS is an independent charity set up to support, develop and promote voluntary and community involvement across the boroughs of Guildford and Waverley. VASWS offers an extensive range of free services to all voluntary groups in our area, so whether you are a very small group just starting out or an established charity we can help.
About VASWS
Voluntary Action South West Surrey is a registered charity and limited company set up in 2008 to help support voluntary and community groups working in the boroughs of Guildford and Waverley. We are a Council for Voluntary Service and member of the National Association for Voluntary and Community Action (NAVCA).
As well as giving advice, information and support to local groups we also run a Volunteer Centre recruiting volunteers for organisations working in South West Surrey, as well as being host of the Guildford and Waverley Social Prescribing Service. In 2024, we launched our Volunteer Connections project.
Our Mission
As an infrastructure organisation we aim to strengthen the voluntary and community sector across South West Surrey. We support all members of the local community to access services to improve their health and wellbeing.
Our Vision
We at Voluntary Action South West Surrey will champion a resilient, inclusive voluntary sector to enable residents, volunteers and the community to flourish. We will address the wider determinants of health and wellbeing, enhancing accessibility and diversity
