Mission Statement
The Brigitte Trust is a Queen's Award registered charity offering a free service of emotional support and practical help. The service is offered face-to-face in the home supporting people and their carers when a life-threatening illness such as Cancer or Motor Neurone Disease has been diagnosed.The Brigitte Trust is a trusted partner of Surrey County Council and over 400 referrals are received every year throughout Surrey. More volunteers are needed now to support people who have received a life-limiting diagnosis.

Brigitte Trust is a Surrey based charity that offers practical and emotional support to individuals with life limiting conditions through skilled and trained volunteers. This can be either in their own home, or in a care home or prior to Covid 19, hospital. We have a strong reputation amongst professionals Surrey wide for delivering efficient, appropriate and compassionate support and this reputation was enhanced during Covid 19 when our services expanded to include the vulnerable and isolated. We have now returned to delivering to our core client group and are pursuing some exciting new ventures such as bereavement groups, Death cafes and a ‘Coffin Club’.
We are financially sound, have a committed and highly skilled staff team and a cohesive and motivated Board. We are seeking an additional Board member.
Ideally we would like to recruit a Board member:
With expertise in media and marketing to advice the Board on these areas
Who is interested in promoting services for people with life limiting conditions
Who is willing to commit a small amount of time – Board meetings are roughly every 6 weeks and currently mostly on zoom, and attendance at an occasional event e.g AGM, annual volunteer ‘Thank you evening’ is also encouraged.
It would be helpful if a new Trustee were based on the west of the county (e.g Woking, Guildford and westwards) but this is not essential.
A clear DBS is required for this role.

The mission statement of Cancer Testing Services CIC
Community service is paramount in our approach to providing families with both awareness and possible solutions to all too common cancers and the problems that they can bring.
The awareness and detection work of Cancer Testing Services CIC is driven by a passion to find early indications of prostate cancer in men and also aims to lead to the uncovering of any other cancers, regardless of gender, that, through testing with a simple blood test, might assist in this early detection and the possibility of saving or extending life.
We aim to learn, educate and use knowledge, to reduce death from prostate and other cancers that affect adults in the community and will reduce the impact upon the wider families that cancer complications and deaths provide.

If you are looking for volunteering opportunities in the outdoors, then Herons Wey Campsite is the place for you! On any day, regardless of the weather it is a fantastic place to spend time with the camping areas spread across 35 acres of grassland. We also have 2 large areas of native woodlands covering a further 17 acres which are bordered by the river Wey.
Whether you are looking for a regular or one-off volunteering experience, we have lots of tasks which we need help with. We also welcome applications from corporate volunteer groups who would like to undertake an outdoor based service project in their local community.
In addition we are also looking for a few people who are interested in getting involved with the Site Management Committee; a team that hold the overall responsibility for running the site.

Herons Wey Campsite is owned by Girlguiding Surrey West and managed by volunteers. The campsite and residential facilities welcome members of Girlguiding, the Trefoil Guild, Scouting, uniformed organisations, charitable groups, and other youth organisations including Schools/Educational and Duke of Edinburgh groups for overnight/residential stays and day bookings.
Girlguiding is the largest organisation for girls and young women in the UK. The aim is to sustain and promote a stimulating and enjoyable programme of activities. These will help girls and young women develop their potential and enable them to play an active role in their community.

Of course, spending time in the garden with our teenage volunteers is super important but there are other roles too, depending on your skills – we’ve listed some key roles that we are currently hoping to fill below. Mission Statement
The Green Hub Project for Teens is a local community project serving Surrey & Hampshire and surrounding areas. It supports young people (10-18) facing social, emotional and mental health challenges, along with their families and carers. In addition, Green Hub works to promote awareness and understanding of mental health and emotional wellbeing for young people in the broader community.
Green Hub’s purpose is to achieve positive, measurable outcomes for teen mental health, including self-love, active lifestyles, social interaction and inclusion, as well as the development and application of a range of learned skills. Green Hub achieves this through its Teen Garden social prescribing programme, talks and support groups within the local community, along with sharing useful information via the website.

Guildford Food Bank
Mission Statement
We support individuals and families in Guildford and nearby villages with food parcels, fuel assistance, a listening ear, and guidance to services that help move people out of crisis. Our work is powered by generous donations from local communities and partners, enabling us to serve with compassion and care.
We provide food parcels, support and advice for electricity and gas bills, a listening ear and signposting.
We couldn’t do any of this work without our amazing donors; local schools, churches, clubs, including Guildford Lions who contribute weekly to our fresh food offering and individuals, who donate food and necessities directly to us or drop off points at local supermarkets. We also receive financial donations and these cover our running costs and parcel contents.
We currently have 115 volunteers from all different backgrounds; students, retired, employed, self-employed, not working or seeking work. People volunteer primarily because they would like to help those in their community, but also for company, structure to the week, a sense of purpose and much more.
Anyone aged 18+ can apply to volunteer with us.

Summary
As a Team Leader you are responsible for running a client session. You will be well organised, a clear communicator and able to keep calm whilst coping with multiple demands on your time during a session. You will be the main point of contact between the Food Bank Manager and volunteers.
Key responsibilities
- keeping up to date with recent food bank communications
- preparing packing sheets for your upcoming client session
- unlocking and securing the building at the start and end of the client session
- ensuring you have the correct number of volunteers in relation to expected client numbers
- ensuring all team members are clear on what is expected of them during the session and providing them with recent food bank updates with respect to packing and talking to clients
- keeping track of parcels being packed, including relevant dietary requirements.
- monitoring clients arriving and following up with the Food Bank Administrator when queries arise during the session.
- ensuring all cafe listeners have the opportunity to download what they have heard and ensuring that any specific needs are offered in prayer (prayer can be done by another member of the team; the download and prayer are key to our work)
- sending in fuel voucher and fuel advice referral forms and completing a session report following the closure of your session.

Guildford Sea Cadets

We are a very well established Sea Cadet unit that has been in operation since 1942. We were recognised in 2010 as one of the best units in the southern area. This is not only because of our central location, right in the heart of Guildford, but because of our ethos and commitment to provide top notch activities for young people.
Our superb location, perched on the banks of the River Wey near the National Trust's Dapdune Wharf, is so close to the water that you can touch it. And this fits well with our aim; to give young people the opportunity to get out onto the water, gain confidence and have a lot of laughs at the same time.
We want to keep our cadets active both on an off the water. Long evenings in the Summer months mean loads of time on the water: Kayaking, sailing, rowing and driving power boats. Then when the nights draw cold and you think that all we can do is in a classroom you find we keep active: rock climbing, leadership games and activities and sports games.
We currently have 65 cadets, male and female aged between 10 and 18, of whom 16 are Royal Marine Cadets.
We have a wide range of facilities and instructional staff which means we can offer you the opportunity to learn new skills in a safe environment whilst having loads of fun!

Description of Volunteer Role - We are looking for volunteers to help with the management, fundraising, publicity, insurance, safety personnel and other policy aspects of running a flourishing youth organisation run entirely by volunteers.
Volunteers would be required for one evening per month for committee meetings and occasional visits to the unit for other purposes.
The Management Committee meets about 10 times per year and the AGM is from 7.15 to 9.15pm, usually on a Tuesday or Wednesday. There are also some ad hoc meetings when VIPs visit on a Monday or Thursday (probably 2 per year)

There are occasional courses run by the Sea Cadet Corps to attend. Also a CRB check is necessary and a child protection course every 3 years.
Directions - At Dapdune Wharf, next to the National Trust on the River Wey. Access either via Walnut Tree Close (Car Park) or Woodbridge Road(Park on Road) and then via footpath which links the two.

Guildfordians Rugby Football Club
Mission Statement
Guildfordians Rugby is a community focussed rugby club based in Stoke Park within the Borough of Guildford. We provide a wide variety of rugby playing opportunities and are a club that is fully open to everyone, regardless of their ability, age, ethnicity or gender and sexual orientation. Through the provision of adult contact rugby (for both men and women), touch rugby, walking rugby and children’s rugby we offer sporting activity for all genders and all ages – our playing members range from four years old to eighty. In addition to on field volunteering roles there are a wide range of volunteering opportunities behind the scene – accordingly an interest in rugby or sport is not necessary to support Guildfordians Rugby and to enjoy its community. We have a number of different roles and would be delighted to hear from you.

We are looking for support running Guildfordians rugby financial affairs. This can be a full Treasurer role, or any of the following parts of it depending on volunteer preferences.

Some accounts skills would be desirable, as would familiarity with the Xero accounts package but this is very intuitive and likely can be quickly picked up.
Volunteer Coordinator
Guildfordians Rugby Club depends on its many volunteers whether on the rugby side (e.g. coaching, arranging fixtures, etc) or on the club management side. Volunteers enjoy Guildfordians' welcoming and social ethos, and certain perks such as preferential treatment in ballots for tickets for international rugby matches.
The club could, however, benefit from having someone to take on a volunteer coordinator role to ensure that all volunteers, particularly new volunteers, are fully welcomed and integrated, and support the club in attracting and retaining volunteers.
The role can be undertaken remotely, but our preference would be for someone who wants to integrate with the club and attend matches, social events, etc., and thereby benefit from the Guildfordians community as well as getting to know the cohort of volunteers.

Rosamund Guildford Community Garden
Mission Statement
Receive a warm welcome at Rosamund Guildford Community Garden, where a vibrant community of volunteers comes together. Our mission is to create a nurturing natural space, inviting both novice and passionate gardeners to enjoy the beauty of the outdoors and wildlife.
We grow produce in tune with nature, using no-dig methods, slow natural enrichment and non-mechanisation. The Garden has many environmental features including a Roundhouse crafted through traditional methods, a pond fed by rainwater, two polytunnels, beds for growing, wildlife havens and a diverse orchard with a variety of trees.
We run regular sessions at the garden on Tuesday and Sunday afternoons between 2.30 and 4.30pm. We also have monthly Big Job Sundays for large projects or tasks that require a big group. If you’d like to come and join in one of our sessions, just drop us an email to check it’s going ahead. To become a member of the garden we ask for a nominal sign-up fee of £20 for the year, and you will be added to our garden chat and google group, as well as having free access to the garden outside of the group sessions. It’s best to try out a couple of taster days before committing to becoming a member, to make sure it’s right for you.

It promotes the positive enjoyment and care of the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which is in the course of being rebranded as one of the UK’s National Landscapes. We encourage those who live, work in, or visit the area to explore and learn about the special qualities and distinctiveness of the area. The Society also uses its extensive network to actively promote the conservation and enjoyment of the Surrey Hills.
In June 2019 the Society was presented with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service which is the highest award for volunteer groups to recognise outstanding work done in their communities and is the equivalent of an MBE for voluntary organisations.

The Cheryl King Trust
Helping financially disadvantaged young people to make music
CKT believes that every young person, regardless of family income, deserves the opportunity to learn to play a musical instrument with everything that brings.
We fund music lessons for financially disadvantaged children and young people in Surrey whatever their level of musical development. We fund rock, pop and jazz as well as classical and singing as well as instrumental lessons. We also co-fund group projects in schools with a high level of Pupil Premium. We are staffed entirely by volunteers and have minimal overheads. Our income comes from grants, individual donations and fundraising at events such as gigs, quiz nights.
