Cancer Testing South

The mission statement of Cancer Testing South

The detection work of Cancer Testing South is driven by a passion to find early indications of prostate cancer and also lead to the uncovering of other frequently overlooked cancer through both testing with a simple blood test and by promoting awareness. We aim to learn educate and use knowledge, to reduce death from prostate and other cancers that regularly respond to early intervention.

Cherry Trees (East Clandon)

Cherry Trees supports some of the most vulnerable children in Surrey, as well as their families. Our home from home respite care is a lifeline to over 100 families. As a volunteer, you can be part of the Cherry Trees community, making a difference every single day.

Hale Community Centre - Youth Centre

Following on from the huge success of our new youth group we are getting busier and are now looking for more volunteers to help us expand!

We are currently recruiting people from all backgrounds to join our vibrant youth team supporting our youth work in Sandy Hill, Upper Hale.

All we ask from you is a willingness to learn, commitment to one evening per week (term time), kindness and resilience.  We will provide training and support from the outset and you will be working alongside experienced Youth Workers. We are currently looking for people who are free on Wednesday evenings but other opportunities will be coming up in the next 3 months as we expand.

This is a great opportunity to give back, feel good about helping others and really make a difference to the lives of young people!

Volunteers will require an Enhanced DBS check and suitable references.

CHARITABLE OBJECTS

To promote the advancement of education in the Christian values of justice and peace by charitable means, in particular by:

  • promoting the work of justice and peace;
  • working in conjunction with the Roman Catholic bishops of England and Wales and their agencies to advance the practice of social teaching of the catholic church by the encouragement and support of diocesan Justice and Peace groups and other bodies that share their concern to bring the good news of Christ's love and peace to people who are disadvantaged and to work to empower them to improve their circumstances;
  • promoting appropriate prayer, study, celebration and spirituality within religious practice to inspire solidarity with those in need;
  • raising awareness about social justice, non violence, ecological and human rights issues as central to the life of the church and beneficial to the well-being of the community;
  • encouraging and promoting work, action and campaigning for social change on issues of justice and peace by raising awareness through provision of training, workshops, conferences, publications and the like; and building networks with all those who share our vision and aims, promoting communication to seek collaboration over action, resources, methods and good practice.

Puttenham Barn

Mission Statement

Puttenham Barn is run by a small environmental charity called Project Oasis North Downs (POND).

Its mission is to provide simple inexpensive overnight accommodation in a 250 year old barn, in an environmentally responsible way.

It is aimed at walkers, cyclists & people enjoying the surrounding beautiful countryside.

The Barn has many environmental features including solar panels (on its bike shed!), rainwater harvesting & local varieties of apple trees in the garden.

We aim to open at weekends, during school holidays and on as many other nights as we can between Easter & October.

Come and join us!  We are a user-led organisation based out of a small office in Burpham and we cover the whole of Surrey and North East Hampshire.  The aim of the Surrey Coalition is to campaign for, and promote the rights of, disabled people to have equality of opportunity and to live independently.  We have volunteering opportunities based in our office, from your home or out and about in the community.  There is something for everyone and we would love to talk to you about how we could use your skills.
