DAFFODIL BALL VOLUNTEER OVERVIEW
Are you a task-oriented person with excellent customer service skills that thrives while working with an amazing team? Volunteer at the 27th annual Canadian Cancer Society Daffodil Ball and help ensure that this incredible fundraising event is a glowing success!
Funds raised through the Daffodil Ball help the Canadian Cancer Society fund life-saving research, lead prevention initiatives and deliver caring, compassionate support and information to people affected by cancer. Last year the Daffodil Ball raised nearly $1.1 million in support of young adults with cancer.
Many volunteer positions are available at various times throughout the day and night.
The Daffodil Ball Event Day Volunteer responsibilities encompass a wide variety of activities and could include any of the following:
- Décor Setup, which may include such tasks as attaching chair covers to chairs, placing and/or rearranging table decoration.
- Hosting duties, which may include registration, distributing event collateral and confirming volunteer’s shift and shift details or hosting a VIP table and acting as the concierge for the table’s guests.
- Registration duties, which many include registering, guiding and liaising with volunteers and guests and maintaining accurate attendance lists.
- Greeting and seating duties, which may include welcoming and guiding guests to resources, facilities and their tables.
- Live Auction and Gifts of Hope duties, such as spotting bidders in the audience and bringing them to the MC’s attention or accurately recording and confirming bidder information.
- Ticket Selling duties, which may include selling raffle tickets using approved methods and technologies in a designated area and accurately recording required information from ticket purchasers.
Roles will be assigned following volunteer signup.

TRAINING & SUPPORT
- Daffodil Ball Volunteer Orientation prior to event day for some positions and on event day for everyone
- Support from Volunteer Engagement Lead where needed
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent communication skills with team
- Organized and proactive mindset
- Warm, friendly and professional demeanor
COMMITMENT
Minimum 5.5 hour shift on the day of the event
DRESS CODE
All black, dress pants or skirt and matching black top
