London Museum Docklands: Learning Volunteer

An exciting opportunity has opened for new volunteers at London Museum Docklands!

Join our welcoming Learning team to support our school and family groups, helping to ensure every visitor has a memorable experience at our museum. 

Our Learning department engages thousands of visitors each year through high-quality school and family programmes. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our team starting in Autumn 2026.

What you will do:

• Welcome school groups: Greet schools upon arrival and support them during their visit.
  
  
• Welcome families: provide activity trails and assist with wayfinding.
  
  
• Support sessions: Help staff and freelancers deliver creative, informal learning sessions for families, including under-5s.
  
  
• Prepare resources: Help set up materials and support the delivery of large-scale museum events.
  
  
• Spark curiosity: Assist staff with interactive object-handling sessions for families.
  
  

Time commitment and training

• Ideally, we are looking for volunteers who can help weekly or fortnightly. We would like volunteers to support on weekdays/weekends during term time, and weekdays/weekends during school holidays. If you are unsure about your time commitment, please still apply - we are happy to be flexible.

• Attendance at our introductory and training sessions is required to fulfil this role effectively (Friday 11 and Friday 25 September 2026).
  
  

Who we are looking for

No prior museum experience is needed. We provide full training and welcome volunteers from a range of different backgrounds and experience. This role is perfect for you if you want to see how museum learning works in a fun, lively environment, or if you are enthusiastic about engaging with the public.
