Muttart Conservatory

The Muttart Conservatory, Edmonton's premier horticultural attraction, is nestled in the river valley and features more than 700 species of plants in 3 climate-regulated biomes - arid, temperate and tropical - and a feature biome, located within our pyramids.

How to Get Involved

  • Ages 13+

  • If under the age of 16

    • Two written references from a non-related person (A form can be provided for you)

    • No Police Information Check Required

  • Fill in an Application

  • Entry-level positions, such as Special Events, do not require a Police Information Check to volunteer.​ 

  • Complete a Police Information Check. Some positions may also require an interview or reference checks.

  • You will be invited to attend our New Volunteer Orientation

  • Once you have attended a Volunteer Orientation you can log in to and start signing up for opportunities. 

  • Check out all the areas that Community & Recreation Facilities has to offer.

Annual Plant Sale

Help out at the Muttart’s Annual Bedding Plant Sale. Volunteers will assist the growers, cashiers, and other staff with providing a positive, efficient and enjoyable experience for customers during the plant sale. 

Orchid Species Preservation Foundation

Volunteer with us protecting nature's species orchids, their habitats, pollinators and microclimates are our core values. Sharing our values and goals with others provides our energy, resources and accomplishments. Nature's beautiful orchid species are the result of an environment well cared for!

Volunteer Experience Ambassador

The year-round Volunteer Experience Ambassador position is intended to enrich visitor experiences at the Muttart Conservatory through educational experiences along with being a warm, inviting presence at the facility. Volunteers supplement but do not replace the opportunities provided to the public by paid staff.

Volunteer Experience Ambassadors use short, engaging, relevant and personal interactions to enhance the visitor experience. Volunteers interact with visitors of all different ages, backgrounds and walks of life, inspiring people to connect with the amazing world of plants!
