The HCP will achieve its vision by effectively executing its mission of:
- Providing an inspiring natural learning environment in which visitors and students can learn responsible horticulture and conservation practices and the importance of plants to a sustainable world.
- Reaching out to our community and the world with innovative education programs that connect people, especially children, with plants and nature and increase awareness of the importance and fragility of our natural environment.
- Developing, cataloguing and displaying a rich collection of plants that demonstrates the rich heritage of plants that can be grown in our climate and contributes to the protection of biodiversity.
- Demonstrating responsible stewardship of our conservation lands through our sustainable management practices, habitat restoration and education programs.
- Providing high quality, accredited education for horticulture professionals by responding to the needs of the horticulture industry and our students through innovative programs.
- Engaging in research with partners in plant sciences to expand our knowledge of native plants and their importance for biodiversity and sources of food.
Greater Victoria Bike to Work Society
The Greater Victoria Bike to Work Society is a registered non-profit society governed by a volunteer board of directors whose mandate is to encourage and promote the use of the bicycle as a viable form of transportation.
Now in its 21st year, the Greater Victoria Bike to Work Week provides individuals the opportunity to experience cycling in a safe, fun way. Participants learn cycling is an enjoyable and feasible option for everyday transportation, particularly for commuting to work.
The Society started Bike to Work Week 21 years ago and hosts the provinces largest annual Bike to Work Week event. We also provide urban bike skills courses to the public building confidence and safety in commuter cycling. Click here to register in a course today.

Our mission is to provide a therapeutic horseback riding program for children and adults with disabilities that promotes and enriches their physical, psychological and social well-being.
What We Do
Victoria Therapeutic Riding Association (VTRA) formerly known as Victoria Riding for the Disabled, was formed in 1982 to provide a therapeutic riding experience to children and adults with disabilities. VTRA is a non-profit organization that uses horseback riding as a recognized therapeutic aid for people with a wide range of physical, intellectual and learning disabilities. VTRA offers classes to more than 140 children and adults with disabilities that include Cerebral Palsy, Downs Syndrome, Autism, intellectual challenges, and hearing or vision impairment. VTRA is made up of a volunteer board, a small paid staff and more than 100 volunteers who through their dedicated contribution of time enable these individuals to ride each week.
