Pacifica Housing Advisory Association

Mission Statement

Mandate

Pacifica Housing is a non-profit charitable organization that provides affordable housing for low income families, persons with a disability and adults who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

Mission

It is our mission to be a leading innovative provider of affordable homes and support services that contribute to the independence of individuals and families.

Vision

We believe in “housing first”: helping people find safe, secure and permanent housing, so that health, family and other personal matters can then be addressed. Pacifica Housing's vision is to build better lives through affordable homes and community connections.

It is our long term desire to lead by example in integration, creativity and responsibility. We work to break the cycle of homelessness by enabling families and single adults to achieve permanent housing so they can live with dignity, safety and stability.

General Interests

Community Meals Program

Community Meals are held once a month in each of our four supported housing buildings.

Office Support

Our Gardens Program

"Our Gardens" is a community garden initiative currently operating at five Pacifica Housing complexes. Resident gardeners work with a coordinator and are involved in all aspects of gardening from constructing raised beds through to planting, weeding and sowing. Tenants are taught basic gardening skills and provided with 1-2 plots (raised beds or in ground) for growing vegetables, herbs and flowers. Tenant gardening experience ranges from beginner to advanced - all are welcome.

Virtues Youth Program

The Virtues Youth Group program provides weekly sessions, based on the Virtues Project, featuring virtues such as confidence, generosity, integrity and respect, for 90 children, ages 5-12, living in Pacifica’s subsidized family housing complexes. Children enjoy arts and crafts, engage in physical activities, celebrate various holidays, have nutritional snacks, and go on field trips to learn more about their community. Beyond the fun, children practice socially appropriate behaviour that builds self-esteem and develops strong and healthy family relationships and friendships
