Student Placements
We offer work placements to high school, university and TAFE students.
Completing your placement with us, gives you the opportunity to apply the theory and skills learned while studying.
Courses and disciplines will be considered where appropriate by the local program. Where there is support from a placement supervisor, we may be able to accommodate additional request.
Vocational placements provide students with the opportunity to apply the theory and skills they learned while studying in a professional workplace. Vocational placements that meet the definition under the Fair Work Act 2009 are lawfully unpaid.
Program teams are responsible for the decision to have students participate in the program.
Any applicants who are under 18 at the time of application must have their guardians’ consent. Guardians will be invited to induction. Program areas must ensure students under 18 years are rostered on when a supervisor is available.
All applications for student placements are considered on an individual basis, based on personal competencies and relevant experience which demonstrate a capacity to achieve agreed outcomes. All potential student placement candidates are required to participate in an interview with the relevant supervisor. Tertiary students on placement will be required to complete Uniting’s current safety screening processes, including National Police Check, hold a valid working with Children or Valuable People Check.
