Hartley's Meals - Prahran

A warm welcome when someone needs it .

Hartley’s Meals located in Prahran has been serving weekday lunches for more than thirty years with volunteers serving thousands of meals a year. Hartley’s is operated by experienced chefs, volunteers, and participants from our services.

Hartley’s aims to provide:

  • a supportive and welcoming environment to all, but particularly those in the community who may be living with complex needs including mental illness, economic disadvantage, social isolation, loneliness or disadvantage
  • nutritious, low cost meals.

With the doors open during the week, volunteering with is flexible and rewarding. If you have 4 hours a month to spare and a passion to make an impact in the lives of people we support, by creating a place for people to feel safe, to belong, and to connect. We would like you to join our dedicated team

 

A typical lunch menu has soup, two choices of main meal (with vegetarian options always available) plus a dessert. Free bread and salad is provided – when possible – with the purchase of a main meal. The menu changes every day, and main meals cost $4.00. Holders of a valid and current Centrelink concession card are entitled to three free main meals a month*.

 

Opening hours Monday to Friday, serving lunch from 11.00am to 2.00pm

Winter Breakfast - Prahran

A Warm breakfast on a dreary winter’s day is a small luxury, but it means the world to many. 

Hartley’s Meals located in Prahran has been serving weekday lunches and free Breakfasts during winter for more than thirty years with volunteers serving thousands of meals a year. Hartley’s is operated by experienced chefs, volunteers, and participants from our services.

The program provides a free hot meal to those most in need and runs from June to August.

With the doors open early during the winter months, volunteering with the winter breakfast programis flexible and rewarding. If you have 4 hours a month to spare and a passion to make an impact in the lives of people we support, by creating a place for people to feel safe, to belong, and to connect. We would like you to join our dedicated team. Shifts start at 7.30am on weekdays during the inter months.

Community Meals - St Kilda

The St Kilda Engagement Hub offers a unique community service for adults with severe and enduring mental health issues.

The hub operates as a ‘drop in’ centre. Focusing on encouraging individual strengths and abilities.

People accessing the hub can access 

  • Daily meals including breakfast and lunch on weekdays.
  • Laundry facilities and showers
  • Group outings
  • Workshops and activities – including art, drama, gardening, meditation, yoga, music, women’s programs, writing and trivia

Emergency Relief - Prahran

 

Share your time to transform lives.

 

Emergency Relief volunteers are non-judgmental in their approach and the ability to respond with empathy to people in crisis.

 

Uniting's Emergency Relief program for people experiencing hardship. The program provides an opportunity for vulnerable members of the community to access a range of supports, including donated food items, vouchers, material goods and referrals to services.

 

Team Members assist with reception, packing and distribution of food, initial eligibility interviews, entry of data, general operations of the program and maintaining the work environment.

Helping people get by with a little help from some friends.

Christmas activities - Prahran

A little extra support at Christmas.

Uniting's Emergency Relief program for people experiencing hardship. The Christmas program provides an opportunity for vulnerable members of the community to access a range of supports, including donated food items, vouchers,gifts material goods and referrals to services during the Christmas season.

 

Team Members assist with reception, packing and distribution of food, donation collections, deliveries, initial eligibility interviews, entry of data, general operations of the program and events such as Christmas day lunch and the Toy Hhop.
