Emergency Disaster Services (EDS)
There are many reasons why people in need seek the shield of The Salvation Army. They know that in a crisis our trained volunteers will be there able to provide the necessary assistance and comfort to make it through any emergency or disaster.
Whether that disaster should happen to you or your neighbor and it is natural or caused by man, Salvation Army volunteers have been ready to answer an emergency. Since 1900, volunteers have responded to local, national and international disasters such as fires, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, and acts of terrorism.
When you become an EDS volunteer, you will receive introductory training to emergency disaster services. Afterward, based upon your areas of interest and ability there are intermediate and advanced level courses available.
Youth Programming
Through The Salvation Army Character Building programs, young people will develop their individuality and potential through gaining a sense of personal identity and character through interaction with other young people and leaders. In every Character Building program offered by The Salvation Army, young people will learn the importance of Christian values and biblical truths. All volunteers must submit and pass background checks.

The Salvation Army is first and foremost a part of the universal catholic church. We follow the Wesleyan-Arminian tradition within the Protestant Reformation. The Salvation Army's origins are from The Church of England. William Booth [Our founder, 1865], was a Methodist preacher filled with compassion for the downtrodden and alcoholics. William Booth recognized the necessity to provide food and water to the whosoever in need. Stability of basic needs provided a catalyst for the whosoever to develop a relationship with Christ and allow the Holy Spirit to make changes in one life.
