The Salvation Army is part of the universal catholic church. We follow the Wesleyan-Arminian tradition within the Protestant Reformation. The Salvation Army's origins are from The Church of England. William Booth [Our founder, 1865], was a Methodist preacher filled with compassion for the downtrodden and alcoholics on the streets of London. William Booth recognized the necessity to provide soup, soap and salvation to the whosoever in need. Stability of basic needs provided a catalyst for the whosoever to develop a relationship with Christ and allow the Holy Spirit to make changes in their lives.
The Salvation Army continues to provide Biblical education through Sunday school classes, Worship services, Bible studies and other ministry opportunities. Ministry opportunities require church membership as either a Soldier or Adherent of The Salvation Army.
