Adopt-A-Stream

The Trinity River and its tributaries run through Grand Prairie, providing habitat for our native wildlife and recreation through fishing and boating opportunities.

Unfortunately, these streams can become polluted with litter. The majority of this litter is made up of plastic bottles, plastic bags, and Styrofoam. This litter is called 'floatables' because the majority of it floats on the surface of the water creating an eyesore for the community.

You can do your part by not littering and by assisting with stream cleanups during the stream cleanup season which runs from mid-October through mid-March each year.

GP Litter Team

The GP Litter Team assists with preventing litter at city events. Volunteers work in shifts to ensure that litter ends up in the right bins.

Events coming soon. Please email alindbergh@gptx.org if you are interested in this activity.

4. The Diamonds

In 1957 THE DIAMONDS released an instant million selling hit called “Little Darlin’.” The song continues to sell worldwide and has been dubbed “the National Anthem of Rock and Roll.” To date it has sold approximately 20 million copies.

Through the years since the release of “Little Darlin,” THE DIAMONDS have learned one important lesson – the durability of this classic rock and roll music is as much about the future as it is about the past. As a result, THE DIAMONDS continue to expand their audience to this day, performing in a variety of venues and settings worldwide. These performances include – with Symphony Orchestras, in Performing Arts Theatres and major concert halls, on cruise ships, in casinos, at county and state fairs, on tours of England, Ireland, Brazil, Chile, Korea, and Japan, for benefit concerts, corporate conventions and at nightclubs. “We’ve been pleased to find a growing audience among all age groups. They love songs they can understand, remember and actually sing the words to… today, tomorrow, or even 20 years from now.”

5. Riders in the Sky

For more than thirty years Riders In The Sky have been keepers of the flame passed on by the Sons of the Pioneers, Gene Autry and Roy Rogers, reviving and revitalizing the genre. And while remaining true to the integrity of Western music, they have themselves become modern-day icons by branding the genre with their own legendary wacky humor and way-out Western wit, and all along encouraging buckaroos and buckarettes to live life "The Cowboy Way!"

Riders In The Sky are exceptional not just in the sense that their music is of superlative standards (they are the ONLY exclusively Western artist to have won a Grammy, and Riders have won two), but by the fact that their accomplishments are an exception to the rule as well.
