Adult Community Options (ACO)
Make a Difference. Have Fun. Join ACO as a Volunteer!
Adult Community Options (ACO) is our NDIS Disability Services program, supporting people of all abilities from independent to high and complex needs across centres in Parkdale, Cheltenham, Edithvale, and Clayton South.
We’re looking for upbeat, compassionate volunteers who see the person first and bring energy, humour, and heart!
What you’ll do:
- Support clients in fun, engaging centre-based activities
- Assist with community outings and experiences
- Build meaningful connections and friendships
- Encourage independence and participation
- Share your skills, hobbies, and interests

Activity Support Volunteer - Adult Community Options (ACO)

Adult Community Options (ACO) is BHN's NDIS Disability Services Program. The Activity Support Volunteer role is supervised by staff to support clients with a range of abilities from independent to high and complex support needs. A range of programs and activities are available based on 7 life areas as below.

The role involves providing support to the clients in accordance with and within the philosophy of the National Disability Insurance Scheme Act 2013, Disability Act 2006, NDIS Code of Conduct CBCHS and ACO rules, guidelines, policies and procedures.
Social Support Groups (SSG)
Looking to make a real difference and have fun while doing it?
Join our Social Support Groups at BHN and help older adults stay connected, active, and engaged.
Our programs support people aged 65+ through meaningful social activities, both at our centres and out in the community.
Locations: Mentone, Clarinda & Bentleigh East
Activities include:
• Café catch-ups
• Visits to local reserves
• Food market trips
• Movie days
• Group social activities
Whether you’re helping at a centre or joining outings, you’ll be creating connections, building friendships, and brightening someone’s day.
It’s also a fantastic, low-cost way for participants to enjoy new experiences while giving carers a well-deserved break.

SSG support volunteer
This engaging volunteer role involves assisting the Group Supervisor with transportation of clients, assisting with morning tea and lunch set up and pack down, engaging with clients – getting to know their story and what gives them joy. We would also love to hear from you if you have any hobbies or interests which may enhance our programs. Examples include crafts, chess, card games and music to name a few!
