Art Programs Workshop Assistant

 

 

Set up and cleanup for hands-on arts programs for children or adults, assisting instructor and participants with art projects. Able to interact with children, seniors and/or adults in a positive and encouraging way.

Exhibit Preparation Assistant

Assists with tasks related to developing exhibitions- generally on a short project basis. Assists with framing and preparation of artwork, photography and documentation, assists with installing and removing parts of an exhibition and other assorted work with the gallery preparator or other gallery staff.

Special Events and Receptions

Assists with gallery special events/exhibition openings and programs, or occasional weekday art programs including room set up, food preparation that includes cutting and displaying food, tea or drinks preparation, hosting, serving and taking stats of patrons. 

Tour Guide for School Groups

Includes working with an instructor to lead a guided tour of part of the current exhibit. Gives tours to a class or group of children, teens or adults, assists with preparation and cleanup of art materials, assists instructor and students during art activity. Participates in tour training and is responsible for understanding and being able to communicate the tour content for each exhibit.

Exhibit and Activity Interpretation

Costumed Interpreters assist on site when the Museum is open to the general public, usually from May-September and November through to early January.  Volunteers dress in costume and are usually stationed in homes and businesses in the Village. They make visitors feel welcome and engage them in learning through informal conversations. These volunteers may also lead interpretive activities for the general public.

Outdoor Recreation - Warner Loat/Deer Lake

Volunteer opportunities available:

1 day per week canoeing, archery, shelter building and games for the Outdoor Adventure Club in Spring and Fall. Program is held mostly at Warner Loat Park and one day canoeing at Deer Lake.

Shop by Phone Phoner

Shop by Phone Phoner volunteers contact their assigned senior client(s) on a weekly basis to take their grocery order over the phone. The grocery order form is then emailed to Citizen Support Services and the volunteer shoppers take it from there.

Volunteer Visitor

Volunteer Visitors provide a friendly visit once a week to a Burnaby senior, who is isolated or simply would like to make a social connection in person. Volunteer visits are typically 1-2 hours and can be in the senior client’s home or out in the community.

The Shadbolt Centre offers volunteer opportunities throughout the year in Fine Arts programs such as Summer Camps, Art Workshops, Special Events, and Community Events.

Shadbolt Theatre Usher

Enrich the patron experience and promote safety and comfort for our Theatre guests. Shows take place throughout the year in two theatres at the Shadbolt Centre.

NOTE: We are not doing intake for new Shadbolt Theatre volunteers at this time. Please feel free to submit your application and we will contact you when Theatre opportunities become available.
