Volunteer Opportunities

Bonsor Pool Swim Lessons

Bonsor Pool is a community pool that serves residents of the Metrotown area in Burnaby. It shares the same building as Bonsor Recreation Complex and is conveniently located to both Metrotown Skytrain Station and Metrotown. We offer a wide range of swimming lessons from preschool to adult, and have a particular focus on programming for diverse populations that live in the area.

Eileen Dailly Pool Swim Lessons

Eileen Dailly is a community pool that serves residents of the Northwest region in Burnaby. It is across from the Confederation Seniors Centre and is adjacent to Confederation Park. We offer a wide range of swimming lessons from preschool to adult, and have a particular focus on preschool aged children.

Fred Randall Pool Swim Lessons

Fred Randall Pool is a community pool that serves residents of the Edmonds area in Burnaby. It sits within the Edmonds Community Centre. We offer a wide range of swimming lessons from preschool to adult, and have a particular focus on diversified programs.

Special Events

Special events are a great way to contribute and interact with like-minded individuals who enjoy aquatics. We have a wide variety of themed events at all locations throughout the year. By selecting this as your interest, you will be notified of all special event opportunities within our indoor and outdoor aquatic facilities. This includes: CG Brown Pool, Bonsor Pool, Fred Randall Pool, Eileen Dailly Pool, and our four outdoor pools.

Current Volunteer Opportunities

Dry Floor Activities

When the ice is out in the arenas we run sport programs and drop-in sport activities such as inline skating, soccer, ball hockey, lacrosse and pickleball.  Volunteers are welcome to at our instructional programs and our drop-in services.

Special Events

Assisting with off-ice activities at arena special events.

Skating Activities

Assist with skating lessons for Preschool age 3 -5 years and Children 6 - 12 years.

Camp Madawaska

At Camp Madawaska volunteers and campers experience the great outdoors in the heart of Burnaby. It is a unique program that includes canoeing, archery, orienteering, capture the flag and shelter building. Tuesdays we start and end our day at Deer Lake on the water. Aug 5-7 Canoe day is Wednesday Aug 6th.

Camp runs Monday - Thursday 9:30-3:30pm Family Night is Thursday 5:30-7:30pm

Volunteers must be 16 years or older and have a genuine interest in working outdoors. Volunteers are required to attend our Volunteer training June 25th 6-8pm at Warner Loat Park.

Camp Madawaska Leadership

Camp Madawaska Leadership Camp is a unique program that combines outdoor adventures like archery, capture the flag and outdoor cooking with leadership development. Location is at Creekside Youth Centre on Mondays, Warner Loat Park on Tues/Wed/Fri and Deer Lake on Thurs. Volunteer shifts are from 9:45am-4:15pm daily.

Volunteers must be 16yrs or older and have a genuine interest in working with pre-teens in a leadership environment. Volunteers are also required to attend Camp Madawaska orientation and canoe training (Date TBA).
