Art Assistant for Programs
This is a great opportunity for people who are interested in art making and would like to get more experience working with a professional artist instructor!
Art Assistance will be responsible for assisting with set-up and cleanup for arts programs for participants of all ages, as well as assisting instructor and participants with art projects. Should be comfortable interacting with participants in a positive and encouraging way.
Community Arts Assistant
Join our talented instructors at various locations as we celebrate with some sunshine and artmaking! Assist an artist with a block printing project or a community art project and help to greet the public with information about our programs and the gallery.
Duties include set-up and cleanup for hands-on arts programs for participants of all ages, assisting instructor and participants with art projects, and should be comfortable interacting with children, seniors and/or adults.
Special Events and Receptions
Assists with gallery special events/exhibition openings and programs, or occasional weekday art programs including room set up, food preparation that includes cutting and displaying food, tea or drinks preparation, hosting, serving and taking stats of patrons.
Duties include set-up and cleanup for opening receptions and artist talks, as well as directing and interacting with the public.
Tour Guide for School Groups
This volunteer opportunity includes working with an instructor to lead a guided tour of part of the current exhibit. Should be comfortable with public speaking, leading a group of children and adults, and assisting with preparing and clean-up of art projects.
Please note, attendance is required in tour training and you will be responsible for understanding and being able to communicate the tour content for each exhibit.

Fine Arts Program Assistant
The Shadbolt Centre offers volunteer opportunities throughout the year in Fine Arts programs such as Summer Camps, Art Workshops, Special Events, and Community Events.
Shadbolt Theatre Usher
Enrich the patron experience and promote safety and comfort for our Theatre guests. Shows take place throughout the year in two theatres at the Shadbolt Centre.
NOTE: We are not doing intake for new Shadbolt Theatre volunteers at this time. Please feel free to submit your application and we will contact you when Theatre opportunities become available.

Burnaby Pride is a collaborative community initiative organized by a number of agencies and volunteers in Burnaby alongside City staff. The Burnaby Pride Celebration is going into its seventh year in 2024 and features musicians, drag performers, community groups, arts activities, food trucks, and more.
Burnaby Central Spark
Friday October 24th at Burnaby Central Park, 6:00to 8:00pm (fireworks at 7:30)
The City of Burnaby celebrates Halloween and fall traditions with CENTRAL SPARK -- a fireworks-centered event at Central Park focused on family fun.
Featuring spooky art installations/photo ops, roving entertainers, a costumed dance party, food trucks, and a grand drone show and fireworks finale. Costumes are encouraged!

Parkway Alive!
June 1st through Aug 31st
Tuesdays and Thursdays 5-8pm at Merotown, Sundays 12-3pm at Patterson
Parkway Alive! Will be activating two locations along the BC Parkway (greenway corridor between Patterson and Metrotown) during the months of June, July, and August.
All are welcome to participate in health and wellness activities, Indigenous education, arts, crafts, and heritage opportunities. Every day will be different, with food trucks on site and multigenerational play encouraged.
Volunteers will help welcome the public, answer questions about the program, assist with simple games or activities, and hand out resources.
