Amedisys Hospice Volunteer Program

Support hospice office operations. Administrative opportunities can include:

• Assisting with office duties
• Making and answering phone calls
• Attending local community events and health fairs

Support family members who have lost a loved one. Bereavement opportunities can include:

• Making supportive phone calls
• Visiting the bereaved at home
• Attending memorial services
• Assisting with bereavement support groups

Visit and support patients one-on-one. Direct patient care opportunities can include:

• Providing bedside companionship
• Providing respite care for family caregivers
• Helping around the house and/or running errands
• Assisting with veterans' visits and activities

Professional opportunities are provided by volunteers who have a special skill or credential to share with our patients and families. These can include:

• Reiki/massage/other alternative therapies
• Music therapy
• Art therapy
• Hairdresser/barber
