About the role:
As a Volunteer Event Planner, you will be part of a team who are responsible for planning and executing events for Uniting. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that our events are successful, engaging, and aligned with the goals and values of our organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the organisation's staff and other volunteers to develop event plans, timelines, and budgets.
- Identify potential venues and vendors for events and provide recommendations to the organisation's staff.
- Assist in the negotiation of contracts with venues and vendors.
- Manage event logistics, including catering, transportation, accommodations, and other details as required.
- Coordinate event volunteers, ensuring that they have the necessary information and resources to carry out their roles effectively.

About the role:
We are seeking a talented Social Media Support to join our team and take charge of our social media presence. In this role, you will be responsible for creating high-quality, innovative written and visual content for each social media campaign. The family Violence program has a community group opportunity and one to one support where volunteers connect with clients for ongoing support in a wrap around service.
Many people in the community experience loneliness and social isolation. They do not have someone in their life who can listen and help the make the right decisions to support their confidence, quality of life and level of community involvement.

Tasks
This role represents an opportunity to make a positive difference in the life of an individual. In doing so, it builds strength and resilience of the community. To do this role you will need to be positive and patient. You may possess some skills specific to the needs of an individual but, most importantly, you are there to listen, guide and empower someone to take decisions and actions which will enrich their life. This volunteering opportunity is flexible and can fit into any lifestyle. This is a two way learning opportunity with our First Nations staff and clients.
Different services within Uniting have identified individuals who would benefit from one-on-one mentorship. They may have goals such as:
- Learning more about computers
- Developing some musical skills
- Becoming more physically fit
- Meeting people in the local community
- social activities such as meeting for coffee or going for a walk
- help with improving with life skills and some coaching.
As a Uniting social support volunteer you will be matched with someone compatible, with whom you can meet regularly (weekly or fortnightly) for a period of 12 months. During this time, progress, but not completion, may be made on a large goal. Equally, many smaller goals may be able to have been achieved.

Flexible by arrangement for one to one/group session
Requirements.
A commitment to completing training requirements (including e-learning) is required for the role. Role specific training includes:
- Uniting Induction, orientation and training
- Cultural Awareness Training
- Volunteering with Uniting is subject to completing the relevant role specific training and satisfactory background checks which include a National Police Check and Reference Checks. (Police Clearance applications can be organised by Uniting)

1. What does a typical day at Tranby look like?
A typical day at the Tranby Homeless Hub is a dynamic blend of compassion, collaboration, and impactful work. While every day may bring its own unique challenges and moments, here's a glimpse into what you can generally expect:
Morning 7am – 10am shift
Arrival and Preparation: The day often begins with staff and volunteers arriving at the hub pre 7am, ready to embark on a day of service. Volunteers start by donning your apron and setting up the space for breakfast.
Welcoming Clients: As service users begin to arrive, you'll be at the front lines of creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Your smile and friendly demeanour make all the difference in providing a safe space where clients feel valued and respected.
10am – 1pm shift
Meal Preparation and Service: At Tranby, a significant part of the day revolves around providing nutritious meals to clients. You might be involved in meal preparation, serving food, and engaging in conversations with clients as you offer them nourishment and connection.
Clean-Up and Reflection: As the day winds down, you'll be part of the team responsible for tidying up the space and ensuring it's ready for the next day. This is also a time for reflection – a moment to appreciate the impact you've made and the connections you've fostered.
12.00pm cooking session daily
In addition to our regular services at Tranby, we offer unique cooking sessions after closing hours. These sessions are a vital part of our operation, as they allow us to prepare and cook food in advance for the following day. This proactive approach ensures that we can consistently provide fresh, nutritious meals to those in need.
2. Is there parking available at Tranby?
We understand parking can be a concern and we want to ensure that it doesn't hinder your your ability to join our volunteer team. We have limited unpaid parking available on site during office hours Monday to Friday. However, if parking during your time volunteering, we will reimburse you for any out of pocket parking expenses.
Please note that weekend parking on site is plentiful and you are generally welcome to use any of the bays available.

Who We Are Looking For
Our mission to end homelessness is at the heart of everything we do, and we're looking for volunteers who share this commitment. Ideal candidates are those who are motivated to make a tangible difference at the local level. We value volunteers with strong communication skills, the ability to work well in a team alongside staff, service users, and other volunteers, and who approach their tasks in a friendly, non-judgmental, and patient manner. As a volunteer, adherence to our policies and processes is crucial. This includes maintaining confidentiality, respecting boundaries, and following safety and operational guidelines.
Tasks
As a volunteer at Tranby, you'll be integral to our daily operations, providing direct assistance in various capacities. Your tasks will include:
