Volunteer Opportunities - Provincial Programs

BC SPCA - Abbotsford

 

 

We are now accepting applications for the following opportunities. Please note that our Centre is not accessible by bus.

Only applications that fit the following criteria will be considered:

 

 

 Regular, ongoing weekly availability for the next 6 months  (until Nov 2025) (please consider personal availability and upcoming commitments)  

Cat Wellness:

  • Minimum age: 16
  • Experience with cats required
  • Please indicate your shift preference on your application.
    • Shifts available:  Friday 11-1, 12-2, 1-3, 2-4

                               Sat 1-3, 2-4

                               Sun 1-3. 2-4

                               Monday-Wed 1-3, 2-4

                               Thurs 11-1, 12-2

Dog Wellness:

  • Minimum age: 19
  • Experience with strong, large dogs required
  • Please indicate your shift preference on your application.
      • Shifts available:  Friday 2:30-4:30

                                   Tues 2:30-4:30

                                   Wed 9-11, 2:30-4:30                                       

 

Mandatory Onboarding Process for volunteer opportunities listed above:

 In addition to mandatory online training, applicants must also attend in-person orientation:   Saturday, June 14 at 5:30pm - 7:00pm, another orientation may be added if needed.

Applicants will only receive invitation to orientation after successful screening and completion of online training.

 

 

Animal Transport Volunteer Opportunity

Requirements: 

  • You can provide on-call transportation support for SIX MONTHS from now (please consider personal availability and upcoming commitments) 
  • Minimum age: 19 
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License & clear Driving Record

Required availability:   

  • Weekday mornings (approx. 7am - 11am) 
  • Weekday late afternoons (approx. 4pm - 6pm) 
  • Note: Transport area can be Fraser Valley including Langley, and Vancouver BC SPCA hospital. 

 

Please note this position does require the completion of mandatory online  training.

 

Foster Care Volunteer

  • If you are interested in fostering and can support in any of the following ways, we'd love to invite you to apply! 
  • Open to caring for large dogs and have a home with a fenced yard, OR 
  • Willing to care for animals that require behavior modification(cats or dogs), OR
  • Able to care for animals needing extra support, such as medical care (may require personal protective equipment).

Please note this position does require the completion of mandatory online  training.

Join our team of like-minded individuals as a Dog Wellness Volunteer with the BC SPCA! Work in partnership with staff and volunteers to ensure dogs emotional & physical needs are met through daily walking and BC SPCA-approved training techniques.

Transport Volunteer Opportunity

Requirements:

  • Availability: weekdays and/or weekends (daytime)

  • The Sea To Sky Shelter is currently seeking volunteers for Cat Care from 9am to noon, Monday to Friday, to assist with litter box and cage cleaning, as well as feeding cats.

Join our team of like-minded individuals as a Cat Care & Wellness volunteer with the BC SPCA! Work in partnership with staff and volunteers to ensure our cats environments are clean, and their emotional & physical needs are met through daily engagement and BC SPCA-approved training techniques.

  • Required experiences: computer skills (including Microsoft products), communications skills, comfortable working with teams and as an individual

2. Supplies / Animal Transport Volunteer

  • Minimum age requirement: 19
  • Commitment: minimum 6 months
  • Documents required: Class 5 BC Driver's License and clean Driving Record
  • You can support our program for SIX MONTHS from now (please consider personal availability and upcoming commitments) 

 

3. Landscape Lead Volunteer

  • Minimum age requirements: 19
  • Commitment: minimum 6 months
  • Experience or strong interest in gardening, landscaping, or outdoor maintenance
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions

 

 

4. Community Services Volunteer

  • Minimum age requirements: 19
  • Commitment: minimum 6 months
  • Experience or strong interest in public-facing community events
  • Clear and confident communicator

 

 

5. Foster opportunity - animals in care at this centre

  • Cats, kittens
  • Small animals
  • Minimum commitment: SIX MONTHS from now (please consider personal availability and upcoming commitments)
