Registration Committee
The registration committee reviews applications for registration as a professional member, a licensee, or a professional licensee according to the terms of the Engineering and Geoscience Professions Act and general regulation. The Registration Committee ensures applicants meet the requirements before registration is approved and considers matters of policy, significant changes in procedure, examination results, and other matters referred by the Registration Executive Committee or Council.
Average time commitment
Three-year term with the option for renewal at the end of each term. Additional time commitments include:
- Review 5–15 files per month (equivalent to about 10 hours per month)
- Attend two workshops per year for training
- Attend monthly one-hour Webex updates for training, policy, and tools (optional)
- Participate in Full Academic Committee or Full Experience Committee discussion groups via Webex or teleconference (optional)

The Opportunity |
The Safety Codes Council plays a key role in the safety of structures and systems in Alberta. The SCC works with partners and stakeholders to ensure that Alberta is designed and built with your safety in mind. Professional Engineers and Geoscientists represent a vital piece of this mission. To support the important work of the SCC, APEGA seeks professional members to represent the association and act in the public interest as volunteers on the SCC Working Group and its Sub-councils
Current APEGA Seeks representatives on the following Sub-Councils:
Building Sub-Council The Building Sub-Council members meet on a regular basis to discuss issues in the building industry and to make sure that our built environment is safe to inhabit. APEGA is seeking a volunteer who is conversant and active in working with buildings, codes and standards to represent the association on the Building Sub-Council.
Plumbing Sub-Council The Plumbing Sub-Council members meet on a regular basis to discuss issues in the plumbing industry and to make sure that our built environment is safe to inhabit. APEGA seeks a Professional Member who is conversant and active in working with Plumbing and associated Plumbing codes. Additionally, the APEGA Professional Member will provide formalized continuous feedback loop between APEGA and the Safety Codes Plumbing Sub-Council.

The Impact |
SCC Sub-Council members meet 3-4 times annually to discuss issues in the building industry and to make sure that Alberta’s built environment is safe for the public. Volunteers on these committees will serve a three-year term and will represent at a high standard APEGA and its members, acting in the public interest.

Time Commitment |
3 year term. 3-4 SCC Working Group Meetings per year (2-hours). Up to 4 Sub-Council meetings per year (1-3 hours). Approximately 20-hours annually.
