Safety Codes Council

The Opportunity

The Safety Codes Council plays a key role in the safety of structures and systems in Alberta. The SCC works with partners and stakeholders to ensure that Alberta is designed and built with your safety in mind. Professional Engineers and Geoscientists represent a vital piece of this mission. To support the important work of the SCC, APEGA seeks professional members to represent the association and act in the public interest as volunteers on the SCC Working Group and its Sub-councils

Currently APEGA Seeks representatives on the following Sub-Councils:

Gas Sub-Council

You turn on a gas stove. You turn up the thermostat. You fuel up your vehicle. To ensure these every day activities are safe, the Safety Codes Council Gas Sub-Council reviews the codes and standards that impact these aspects of life and more. The Gas Sub-Council members meet on a regular basis to discuss issues in the building industry and to make sure that our built environment is safe to inhabit. Our Gas Sub-Council members are generous volunteers who make the province a safer place.

Passenger Ropeways Sub-Council
Zipping down a ski slope on a sheet of fresh snow is only half the trip to the bottom. Travelling safely up on a chairlift to reach the top again is the other half of the experience. This is just one of the areas that the Passenger Ropeways Sub-Council looks after. The Passenger Ropeways Sub-Council are responsible for meeting on a regular basis to discuss how to make ropeway transportation safer. This group works with Alberta Municipal Affairs and the Alberta Elevating Devices and Amusement Ride Safety Association (AEDARSA) to develop and provide relevant information to the passenger ropeways industry.
