Hospice Maintenance Volunteer
Maintenance Volunteers provide vital assistance, helping us to maintain our Hospice and Head Office buildings and surrounding grounds, internally and externally, for the benefit of the children and families who utilize our services.
Providing care and support is something we are only able to do because of the kindness and commitment of our wonderful staff, supporters and volunteers.
Considerations
• Minimum age requirement: 18
• Location: Ty Hafan, Hayes Road, Sully, Penarth, CF64 5XX
• Hours: Flexible (min 4 per week, Mon-Fri)
The purpose of this role
This role will be based at Tŷ Hafan’s Children's Hospice in Sully, assisting the facilities team with maintenance related tasks.
What activities will you be involved in?
*Certain tasks will suit volunteers’ likes, dislikes and strengths and this will be taken into account when allocating tasks.

• Internal and external painting
• Clearing footpaths
• Minor cosmetic repairs
• Water fountain maintenance
• Assisting our team of volunteer gardeners with tasks such as pruning and weeding
• Supporting any other general D.I.Y and maintenance tasks

All tasks will be issued under instruction from the facilities department and full support is povided.
What skills will I need?
• Attention to detail
• Ability to work as part of a team and independently
• Ability to work safely and to not endanger yourself or others and maintain a safe working environment
• Interest or experience (professional or hobby) in DIY/maintenance related tasks
Information on training provided
• Full induction provided by our volunteering and facilities departments
• Health and safety training
• Support and guidance from the facilities team
• Regular volunteer meetings

Volunteer Retail Assistant - Under 18
Are you over the age of 16 and would love the opportunity to volunteer in your local community?
This role offers a variety of different experiences, including learning how to merchandise and price items, interacting with individuals from all different backgrounds, and opportunities for work experience/skills growth.

This opportunity offers a variety of experiences from helping with stock, merchandising and other general activities.

About the role:
This role will be based at your local Tŷ Hafan charity shop, working as part of a team of volunteers assisting the Shop Manager.
Our shops are open Monday-Saturday, 9am-5pm and we are entirely grateful for any time you are able to donate; whether that's 2 hours a week, a half day each week or multiple days per week.
Funds raised in our shops go directly towards caring for the entire family, from complimentary therapy treatments for children, to respite care for families, to sibling support activities & experiences. By volunteering, you directly help us to raise vital funds for children with life-shortening conditions and their families.

Crafts Volunteer
Are you creative, enthusiastic and have a passion for making things? Then we have the opportunity for you.
About the role:
You will be volunteering in our unique crafty workshop, assisting the Handcrafted project manager, Penny, and fellow talented volunteers to create high quality items for sale on our Handcrafted by Tŷ Hafan Etsy shop. This way, you directly help us to raise vital funds for children with life-shortening conditions and their families.
Funds raised from sales go towards caring for the entire family. From complimentary therapy treatments for children, to respite care for families, to sibling support activities & experiences.
- The role will be workshop/office based at our HQ in Sully
- Ideally you will be able commit to 3 hours a week;
- Have sewing skill - hand or on a machine, embroidery;
- Have a love of upcycling and craft;
- Are available either a Monday, Wednesday or Friday between the hours of 09.30 and 5pm;
- And have an interest in running Handcrafted pop-up shops at events in the local community (optional).
