Operations

Volunteering in one of our shelters gives you the chance to work hands on with animals or otherwise support our animal care teams in a variety of ways.  The work can be incredibly rewarding and inspiring. Prior experience is not always essential, but a passion for animal welfare, the desire to work with others and a mature attitude is vital.

Tasks are varied and, depending on the role, may include walking dogs, cleaning pens and enclosures, sorting donations, providing enrichment to animals, keeping up with the laundry and more!

These roles are a unique opportunity to make a difference, but they can be physically demanding, can require work outdoors in all weather and can sometimes involve smelly, noisy and dirty work! You might feel emotional about the animals you encounter and may find this difficult, but ultimately the reward is that you’re making a huge, positive difference to their lives – and yours!

Not all sites are recruiting volunteers all the time, so check this website regularly.

Volunteers working directly with animals must be at least 15 years old.

Volunteers working in other roles must be at least 18 years old.
