Foster Care
Become a foster carer for RSPCA Victoria
The RSPCA Victoria foster program gives animals who are not yet ready for adoption a chance to live and be loved in foster homes. This exciting program helps to reduce the amount of time animals stay in our Animal Care Centres and provides us with valuable information from foster families to help prepare animals for adoption. Fostering is an incredibly rewarding experience and directly improves the lives of animals.
Please click on the link at the bottom of this page to complete the volunteer application form.
In order to make the foster application process as easy as possible we have now introduced on-demand orientation sessions so you can complete your session at your convenience.
There is a test question at the end of the orientation video that you will be required to answer in order to complete your orientation.
Applications are generally approved within 48 hours of your completion of the video question and the volunteer agreement (these will be emailed to you once you have submitted your application). Once your application is approved you will receive your Foster Portal login and password – this will enable you to submit expressions of interest for those animals available for foster.
Please note: We require foster carers to be at least 18 years old. If you are not 18, please have a guardian complete the foster care registration form and participate in the online orientation session with you.
As a result of our recent spike in foster carer recruitment, please bear in mind that we are experiencing an overwhelming response for each animal advertised on the Foster Portal. We will do our best to meet everyone’s requests and ask for your patience while we find a suitable match for you.
