VOLUNTEER ROLE DESCRIPTION

Daffodil Day Area Coordinator

Purpose of Position

To promote and raise money for the Cancer Society in your area during our Daffodil Day Campaign month of August.

Reports to: Fundraising and Events Team
Key relationship: Volunteering Team

Relationships with: Local businesses, organisations, clubs, schools, and street collectors assigned for your area.

Key Functions and Responsibilities

Coordinate a successful Daffodil Day in your local community:

  • Promote Daffodil Day in your area
  • Lead a team of volunteer street collectors with support of Cancer Society Staff.
  • Manage money (training given) with support of Cancer Society Staff.
  • Notify Cancer Society of any notable issues and accidents involving clients, members of the public and other volunteers while they are on duty
  • Help motivate the collectors and help keep everyone feeling enthusiastic and well supported.
  • Thank your team often and especially at the end

  • Ability to work comfortably with people of all social, religious and cultural backgrounds
  • Ability to maintain boundaries and respect confidentiality
  • A caring and sensitive manner
  • Neat, tidy appearance

 

Hours required (indicative)

June/July: Attend Pre-Daffodil Briefing, date tbc
August: As required incl. full day on Daffodil Day (last Friday in August) and Saturday (opt)

Resources

  • Orientation and training
  • Support and guidance provided whenever required.
  • Reimbursement for travel expenses
  • Volunteer identification to be worn whenever on duty.
