You have an interest in getting your hands dirty and seeing what your dirty work can create!

Ambassador Volunteer at Museum of Surrey
Ambassador Volunteer at Museum of Surrey
Want to be part of something BIG? MoS Ambassadors will roam the museum galleries making visitors feel welcome and supported.
What might that look like? You might start your shift handing out maps and asking people how they heard about the museum. You might direct people to onsite demonstrations or fill them in about a cool upcoming event. Next you might answer a question about the dinosaur exhibit or do a brief survey. While you’re chatting, you will probably ask if the visitor has any suggestions about how we can make their experience even better!
Basically, MOS Ambassadors are the warm welcome to the museum. You’re available if visitors need you and are prepared to work with staff to see how we can improve the visitor experience. You enjoy conversation and smiling. IF you can speak a second language, that is fabulous. If not, that’s okay too.
We would love to see your smiling face for four hours per month and are happy to train you so you can represent the museum with confidence.
If this describes you, please fill out the application form. For more information, email heritagevolunteers@surrey.ca or call 604-502-6461.

Do you know one textile but not them all? No problem. Anyone with a love of spinning, weaving, batik or any of the many dynamic textile arts is a suitable person for this role. Just bring your passion along with a smile for the public and you are set.
Textile volunteers are asked to spend a minimum of four hours per month at the museum but we always welcome more of your time!

School Program Volunteer at Museum of Surrey
Education Volunteer at Museum of Surrey
Want to be part of something BIG? School Program volunteers give class tours and deliver pre-written programs to elementary school-aged children.
What might that look like? Well, after setting up the space with museum staff, you will work from reading notes to create an ultra-memorable museum experience complete with real artifacts. You will witness the wonder on tiny faces and chuckle at their fresh observations. After, you will help tidy up the artifacts and chat with museum staff about what went well and how we can make school programs even better.
You don’t need to have teaching experience but a smile, patience and a sense of humour are mandatory. Like the children, you enjoy summer vacation so you’re only available during the school year. You’re comfortable taking a page out of their book to learn the programs… and then deliver them with confidence.
If this describes you, please fill out the application form. For more information, email heritagevolunteers@surrey.ca or call 604-502-6461
