City of Surrey - Arts - Surrey Art Gallery
Do you find art captivating? Why not try something new! Volunteering at Surrey Art Gallery is a great way to have fun, learn about art, and make friends in the process.
Docents (Tour Guides)
Lead tours of the Gallery's exhibitions to school children and community groups as a Docent. You'll use hands-on activities and questioning techniques in tours, helping students enhance their visual literacy and critical thinking skills as they respond to the artworks. We train our volunteer docents throughout the school year. In docent training, you'll attend tours and talks by curators, exhibiting artists, education staff, and guest speakers.
Gallery Event Volunteers
Work with the public and assist at events like exhibition openings and artist talks as a Gallery Event Volunteer. You'll help the public interact with artists and engage with contemporary art and ideas. You'll also assist activities at Family Sundays where you'll help families explore, enjoy, and create art together.
Children's Art Program Assistants
Share your passion for art with eager young minds! Help out with children's art classes and week-long art day camps as a CAPA where you'll develop leadership skills, organize studios, work with children, and assist the instructor.
Youth Docents (Gallery Educators)
Discover contemporary art and ideas, develop public speaking skills, and gain leadership experience. Become a Youth Docent and enhance exhibitions through activities that are equal parts fun and educational.
Do you have training as a library technician or librarian? We could use your help and expertise with accessioning and cataloging in the Gallery's research collection.
