Prison Recovery Support Volunteer

About the role

Our Recovery Support Volunteers work alongside our Recovery team at HMP Lincoln, helping to  support our clients work towards their goals to cut down their drug or alcohol use. Volunteers may work in a 1-1 or group based setting with clients, helping them to take a holistic approach to their recovery journey.

This is a great opportunity for volunteers to make a real difference in people’s lives and gain valuable experience in the substance misuse field and prison setting.

 

Location and Time Commitment

  • Greetwell Road, Lincoln LN2 4BD
  • Minimum of 2 hours per week

 

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Providing advice on treatment options and harm reduction at initial stages of client engagement. 

  • Assisting clients to clinical appointments. 

  • Supporting clients to build their skills in areas such as education and employment, and work at obtaining stable accommodation and improving relationships in preparation for release.

  • Supporting clients to access and attend community services e.g. housing and employment or training support.

  • Encouraging clients to take advantage of support groups such as mutual aid or peer support groups.

  • Sitting in on client sessions with a member of staff (where appropriate) to provide support & advice.

  • Supporting the Group Work Facilitator to deliver group sessions(s).

  • Supporting staff with the preparation, and planning of new groups.

Please note that we require you to be a minimum of 18 years of age to be considered for this volunteering role

 

This role is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check at an Enhanced Level.
