Recovery Support Volunteer

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to volunteer alongside our Recovery team to make a real difference in people’s lives and gain experience in the substance misuse field.

As part of the team you will be helping to provide support, information and advice to our clients in relation to substance misuse through 1-1 interventions.

 

Location and Time Commitment

  • Cornwall
  • Flexible hours between 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday

 

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Supporting Recovery Workers to provide advice on treatment options and harm reduction at initial stages of client engagement.  

  • Assisting and carrying out screening processes including urine, saliva and breath tests

  • Actively promoting and be part of developing recovery activities and events

  • Providing notes of sessions to be input onto a case management system

  • Sitting in on client sessions with a member of staff (where appropriate) to provide support & advice.

  • Raising any potential safeguarding concerns with appropriate members of staff

Volunteer Driver

About the role

Our Volunteer Driver's help to provide travel for clients that are unable to get to important appointments, attending groups and meetings, or for collections and deliveries of things such as medication. 

This is an exciting opportunity for you to enable our clients to obtain all available support that might not otherwise be accessible to them. You will get to work in a 1:1 environment with people and provide support to them on what might be a challenging journey.

 

Location and Time Commitment

  • Cornwall
  • Flexible hours between 8am - 6pm, Monday to Saturday

 

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Collecting clients from their homes and taking to and returning from appointments at places such as hospitals, rehabs, We Are With You offices

  • Delivering prescriptions to or from offices and chemists 

  • Supporting workers with appropriate journeys as required

  • Supporting clients to feel calm and prepared when travelling to and from appointments

  • Keeping in contact with staff and clients where appropriate to provide updates and feedback

  • Reporting any safeguarding concerns

Group Support Volunteer

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to help deliver a variety of recovery based support groups and/or cafes for With You. Volunteers will help to ensure our groups run in an effective and respectful manner where clients are able to fully engage in different types of recovery options. 

Volunteers will receive full training and ongoing support that will be tailored to enable them to help deliver a wide range of group activities such as Art groups or Community Cafe’s. Volunteers may do this with a member of staff or alongside other volunteers.

 

Location and Time Commitment

  • Cornwall
  • Flexible hours between 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday

 

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

Groups

  • Ensuring that the room is set up and ready with everything that is needed for the session, and tidied away afterwards

  • Running each session alongside another volunteer or member of staff 

  • Ensuring all attendees are able to feel safe and welcome and able to participate as much as is possible

  • Keeping accurate records of attendance

Cafe

  • Ensuring that there is appropriate food and drinks available

  • Gaining Food Hygiene certification (if appropriate)

  • Creating a safe environment with other activities (such as art and crafts) where possible

  • Ensuring the room is tidied afterwards and ready for the next groups

  • Raising any potential safeguarding concerns with appropriate members of staff

Administration Volunteer

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to develop and use your administrative skills to support the day-to-day work of the Administration team in our Cornwall service.

As an Administration Volunteer you will help to maintain volunteer documentation, respond to emails and phone calls, update electronic databases and any administrative tasks as required.

 

Location and Time Commitment

  • Cornwall
  • Flexible hours between 9-5pm, Monday to Friday

 

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Supporting the administrative team with tasks, including scanning, copying and filing.

  • Supporting with the screening of phone calls to ensure they get to the correct team or most appropriate member of staff.

  • Helping to ensure that client information displayed in shared spaces is tidy, current and relevant.

  • Maintaining accurate records of all contacts on our case management systems

  • Supporting the Volunteer Team to ensure that admin, record-keeping and communication within the volunteer programme are maintained, including helping to update electronic databases
