Group Support Volunteer

About the Role

As a Group Work Support Volunteer you will be working alongside our Group Facilitators to help our clients engage with and participate in a variety of recovery groups and activities.  

We have a range of group opportunities including our Resilient support group, social, craft club, and our wonderful allotment  and would like for you to help shape the delivery of these sessions to the individuals we support

 

Location and Time Commitment

  • 189-198 High Street, Scunthorpe, DN15 6EA and community spaces
  • 2 hours per week

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Supporting the Group Work Facilitator to deliver group sessions

  • Promoting groups that are available in the service

  • Supporting and encouraging individuals to participate in group activities

  • Working with the team to identify individuals who would benefit from group sessions

  • Supporting staff with the preparation and planning of new groups

Recovery Support Volunteer

About the role

Our Recovery Support Volunteers work alongside recovery workers to help engage and support clients to make positive choices and changes in their lives. 

Volunteers may work in a 1-1 or group based setting with clients, helping them to take a holistic approach to their recovery journey.

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable experience in the substance misuse field and undertake comprehensive training as you progress.

 

Location and Time Commitment

  • 189 -198 High Street, Scunthorpe, DN15 6EA
  • Flexible hours, Monday to Friday

 

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Accompany staff who are visiting clients in the community or on home visits.

  • Sitting in on client sessions with a member of staff (where appropriate) to provide support & advice.

  • Perform recovery check-ins for those nearing the end of their treatment pathways. 

  • Supporting staff in providing information on drug and alcohol use and treatment to the general public at community events.

  • Helping to plan and organise events to promote our services

  • Supporting the needle syringe provision
