Administration Volunteer

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to develop and use your administrative skills to support the day-to-day work of the Administration team in our Rotherham service. As part of the team you will provide a warm and friendly welcome to clients and visitors to the service to ensure a good first impression is made.

 

Location and Time Commitment

  • ROADS, Carnson House, Rotherham
  • Flexible hours within 9-5pm, Monday to Friday

 

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Supporting the administrative team with their tasks, including scanning, copying and filing

  • Supporting the staff on Reception to help create a welcoming and professional atmosphere for visitors and the people using our service

  • Welcoming clients and visitors on arrival

  • Supporting  the screening of phone calls to ensure they get to the correct team or most appropriate member of staff

  • Actively promote and be part of developing recovery activities and events

  • Providing notes of sessions to be input onto a case management system

Recovery Support Volunteer

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to volunteer alongside our Recovery team to make a real difference in people’s lives and gain experience in the substance misuse field.

As part of the team you will provide support to our clients, helping them work towards their goals to cut down their drug or alcohol use. Volunteers may work in a 1-1 or group based setting with clients, helping them to take a holistic approach to their recovery journey.

 

Location and Time Commitment

  • ROADS, Carnson House, Rotherham
  • Flexible hours within 9-5pm, Monday to Friday

 

Main Tasks and Responsibilities 

  • Supporting 1-2-1 sessions providing advice on harm minimisation and recovery planning

  • Opportunity to support in the delivery of group-based sessions as a co-facilitator

  • Work with clients to build and maintain their recovery capital and work towards meeting their treatment goals

  • Assist and carry out screening processes including urine, saliva and breath tests

  • Actively promote and be part of developing recovery activities and events

  • Perform recovery check-ins and aftercare support for those nearing the end of their treatment pathways

Community Volunteer

Role summary

As a Community Volunteer, you will:

  • Help Clients access community services to support their recovery and engagement. 
  • Inspire hope and aspiration in clients. You will do this by showing your passion, hope, and belief in clients' ability accessing our service to make positive change..
  • Support clients in their recovery in relation to their needs by helping deliver a person centred approach to their care.

Time commitment - up to 4 hours per week.

This role is based at ROADS, Carnson House, Rotherham.

 

What will you be doing?

  • To connect and support clients to engage with services in their local  communities to build on their recovery capital.  
  • To attend groups/activities/agencies with individuals initially and until they are  able to attend without support. 
  • To facilitate and lead on a range of groups/activities available in the community. 
  • Ensure clients know about and encourage them to take advantage of local  support groups and organisations such as mutual aid or peer support groups.
  • Support clients to understand the range of services and help there is in the  local area to improve their general health and wellbeing and to support their  recovery. 
  • Explore different local groups and activities relevant to the service/client needs
  • Engage with clients about what options there are related to their treatment needs
  • Support clients to build their skills in areas such as housing, education, employment and training support.  
  • Working alongside Recovery Workers/MDT to utilise various communication methods to support service users engagement in their treatment pathway
  • Telephone contact with clients to provide information about the services offered 
  • Where appropriate to provide telephone check in with clients referred by Recovery Workers/MDT

Alcohol Support Volunteer

We Are With You value the involvement of people with lived experience of drug and alcohol misuse and recovery. Our Alcohol Support Volunteers use their own experience to advise, support, demonstrate visible recovery and act as positive role models to our clients through their own recovery. 

 

Alcohol Support Volunteers work alongside staff from our alcohol team and clinical team to support our clients through a variety of activities including,  providing information and advice within community settings including signposting to relevant support services.

Alcohol support Volunteers will work with the Alcohol team to be present at Hubs providing alcohol advice and harm minimisation.

 

Criteria for selection

 

  • Lived experience in alcohol misuse and in recovery

  • Individuals currently not in structured treatment but can be open under the recovery support modality.

Time commitment: at least 2 hours per week

 

What will you be doing?

  • Encouraging clients to reflect on their experiences in new ways, and if comfortable, sharing helpful information about your personal experience of recovery.

  • Promoting groups that are available in the service and encouraging clients to participate

  • Accompany staff who are visiting clients in the community

  • Attending Community Hubs to provide information on alcohol use and treatment as well as sign posting to relevant support services. 

  • Sitting in on client sessions with a member of staff (where appropriate) to provide support, advice and encouragement to clients from a lived experience perspective 

  • Supporting staff in providing information on alcohol use and treatment to the general public at community events

  • Helping to plan and organise events to promote our services

  • Co facilitating Alcohol Brief Intervention Groups in community venues offering harm minimisation advice and supporting reduction plans.

  • Lived experience of alcohol misuse and recovery. 

  • A calm and non-judgmental approach to supporting others 

  • Enthusiasm and an interest in encouraging clients to be proactive in their recovery

Peer Naloxone Volunteer

Peer Naloxone Volunteer

 

As a Peer Naloxone Volunteer, you will provide support to our clients and help them to change the direction of their life, grow as individuals, and live life to its full potential. You will be assisting Recovery Workers, Healthcare Assistants and Harm Reduction Lead in the training of the use of Naloxone and provision to clients. you will be operating at the community hubs, community events and Carnson House.          

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of the team and make a real difference in people’s lives, gaining experience in the substance misuse field and undertaking comprehensive training as you progress.

 

The time commitment is flexible, within Monday-Friday, 9-5.

 

What will you be doing?

  • Supporting Recovery Workers, Healthcare Assistants and the Harm Reduction Lead in promoting the uptake of Naloxone, 

  • Providing training to the clients in the use of Naloxone.

  • Supplying Naloxone to clients and recording the details.

  • Offering harm reduction advice and warnings of the changing risks due to synthetic opioids.

Role summary

 

This is an exciting opportunity to volunteer alongside our Criminal Justice team to make a real difference in people’s lives and gain experience in the substance misuse/ criminal justice field. As part of the team you will provide support to our clients, helping them work towards their goals to cut down their drug or alcohol use and minimise risky behaviour. Volunteers may work in a 1-1 or group based setting with clients, helping them to take a holistic approach to their recovery journey.

 

Time commitment: flexible, within Monday-Friday, 9-5.

 

This role is based at ROADS, Carnson House, Rotherham.

 

What will you be doing?

Our Health and Wellbeing Support Volunteers provide support to our clients and help them to change the direction of their life, grow as individuals, and live life to its full potential.

Our volunteers help to assist Nurses, Healthcare Assistants and Harm Reduction Lead in delivery interventions on a 1-2-1 or group basis, helping clients to take a holistic approach to their overall recovery journey by helping them to understand the importance of their physical, mental and emotional wellbeing too.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of the clinical team and make a real difference in people’s lives, gaining experience in the substance misuse field and undertaking comprehensive training as you progress.

 

Location and Time Commitment

As part of the team you will provide support to our clients in the Shared Care provision, helping them work towards their goals to cut down their drug or alcohol use. Volunteers may work in a 1-1 or group based setting within the GP practices, helping them to take a holistic approach to their recovery journey.

 

Location and Time Commitment

  • GP surgeries involved in the Rotherham shared care provision. 
  • Flexible hours within 9-5pm, Monday to Friday

 

Main Tasks and Responsibilities 

  • Supporting 1-2-1 sessions, providing advice on harm minimisation and recovery planning

  • Supporting in the delivery of group-based sessions

  • Working with clients to build and maintain their recovery capital and work towards meeting their treatment goals

  • Assisting and carry out screening processes including urine, saliva and breath tests

  • Actively promoting and developing recovery activities and events,

  • Signposting clients to the group work provision provided by ROADs and the Rotherham Recovery Community

  • Performing recovery check-ins and aftercare support for those nearing the end of their treatment pathways

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Support in the delivery of group-based sessions as a co-facilitator with an opportunity to develop your facilitation skills to be able to lead group sessions.

  • Actively promote and be part of developing recovery activities and events

  • Recording group attendees and liaising with Recovery Workers in supporting the individual needs of the group attendees.
