Mentoring Program

Would you like to make a positive difference in a student's life?
As a mentor, volunteering 30 to 45 minutes each week, you can encourage, support, and help build confidence in a student in grades K - 3. Whether it's joining them at recess, eating lunch together, or playing a card game, your time and attention can make a meaningful impact. For more information, email christie.spera@pellaschools.org.
Mileage Club

Help students stay active and healthy during recess!
Responsibilities include:
- Punch cards after laps
- Cheer students on
- Guide runners along the route
When: 11:20 AM – 1:00 PM
Bring: Smile, chair, layers, positivity
Support our students as they run, walk, and have fun!
Lunchroom Supervision

One of our greatest needs is help during lunchtime.Your support makes lunchtime smoother and more enjoyable for both students and teachers.
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting students in the lunch line
- Engaging them in conversation while they eat
- Helping with small tasks (e.g., opening milk cartons)

Recess Supervision

Volunteers play a crucial role at recess by supervising and engaging with students to ensure a safe and enjoyable playground.
Responsibilities include:
- Supervising students to ensure safety on the playground
- Joining games and activities to promote fun and engagement
- Reinforcing playground rules and fair play
- Fostering an inclusive, positive atmosphere where all students feel welcome

Student Reading Support

Volunteers who are willing to read with children needing extra support are invaluable. These dedicated individuals offer one-on-one or small group reading sessions, based on the teacher's assessment and classroom needs, providing focused attention and encouragement. By fostering a love of reading, volunteers help build confidence, improve literacy skills, and make a lasting impact on each child's educational journey.
Clerical Assistance

Enjoy office tasks and organization? Lend a hand with printing, laminating, and more-your help makes a big difference for our teachers!
Library Assistance

Support the library by assisting with tasks to keep it organized and welcoming, creating a space where students can enjoy reading and exploring.
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting students with checking out books
- Shelving returned books
- Helping with other library tasks as needed
