Play Frisco, the city's Parks and Recreation Department, has many one-time volunteer opportunities with our various events and festivals throughout the year. Learn a little more about these events below and mark your calendars to join us at the next one! All volunteers must submit an application to get started!

MLB Pitch, Hit & Run - June
June 2025
Riders Field

Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run events provide boys and girls ages 7-14 an opportunity to showcase their baseball and softball skills and earn a chance to attend and compete for a Championship during the MLB World Series. We need your help to make it happen. Volunteers will help keep stats and retrieve softballs/baseballs in the outfield. This event takes place outdoors in direct sunlight. Volunteer signups are posted in June.

The city of Frisco’s official two-day Independence Day celebration honors our veterans and military heroes, provides unique experiences for play, and hosts one of the largest firework finales in North Texas! Volunteers will have many opportunities to serve this community for Freedom Fest on both days. Shifts range from helping with poster distribution and various support during the 5K on July 3 to event setup, passing out programs and helping oversee the different attractions in the Children's Expo on July 4. Volunteer signups are posted in June.

Love dogs? Play Frisco – Parks and Recreation has a fun opportunity for you! We need help during our annual, much anticipated Paws in the Pool event for Frisco's favorite canine friends. All volunteers will need to be comfortable in water, interacting and cleaning up after all sizes and breeds of dogs, and communicating with dog owners.
There will be three different shifts to choose from and the opportunity to work with small and medium dogs or large dogs. Volunteer signups are posted in August. We hope you can join us.
Pumpkin Dunk - October

We are excited for the return of the Pumpkin Dunk. Children can swim and "pick" a pumpkin from our floating pumpkin patch and then paint and decorate it! Volunteers will assist children at the painting/decorating station, help pass out candy and monitor the face painting line. Signups are posted in early October.
Frosty 5K - December

Join Frosty and friends at Simpson Plaza for our annual 5K! Volunteers are needed for a variety of opportunities including, but not limited to: packet pick up, event-set up, participant check-in, water station attendants, course monitors, and awards/refreshments help. Some opportunities have age restrictions but the minimum age to volunteer for this event is 14. Volunteer signups are posted in November.

- 3:30 - 7:30 p.m. Frisco Elementary School Choirs perform on three stages. Jones Park Variety Stage will feature music, dance, and other artistic performances.
- 6 p.m. City Tree Lighting Ceremony and "Your Time to Shine" Award Presentation.
- 7:30 p.m. Children's activities and Holiday Gift Market closes.
Santa is polishing his sleigh, making his list and checking it twice as he prepares to make his annual journey to the City of Frisco’s Merry Main Street celebration, a festival which kicks off the city’s holiday season on Saturday, Dec. 7. Volunteer signups are posted in November.

Daddy Daughter Dance - February

The daddy daughter dance is a special night for young girls and their grownups. We invite you to be a part of the magic and help us create a wonderful evening full of lasting memories for dads and daughters. We'll have many opportunities for you to make an impact including assembling party favors, helping decorate the grand ballroom, monitoring decor and various lines during the event, passing out programs, cleaning up between dances and helping prepare for the next dance, greeting guests, and passing out programs and party favors. Volunteer signups are posted in January.
High Tops & High Heels - February

The High Tops & High Heels is a special night for moms and their sons. We invite you to be a part of the magic and help us create a wonderful evening full of lasting memories. The Aqua Egg Hunt is a Frisco Athletic Center tradition for children ages 2-10! Splashing in the water and scooping up floating eggs is how we do an egg hunt Play Frisco style. We need your help to scan tickets, hand out egg collection bags, pass out and restock life jackets, distribute goody bags, and monitor the Easter Bunny photo booth line. Volunteer signups are posted in March.
Frisco Environmental Services
Environmental Education, Service, and Outreach
The City of Frisco's Environmental Services offers many opportunities for community service, volunteer programs, and educational programs and classes.
Currently, our department primarily utilizes My Impact (this platform) for our Teens4Green program, which welcomes teens age 14-18 years old. Teens4Green is an award-winning, student-run club, which strives to improve environmental sustainability. This club actively conducts team projects and promotes environmental awareness in Frisco. We provide city staff to supervise Teen4Green service projects.

Volunteer Opportunities
Teens4Green: Year-Round
Teens4Green is a program that encourages Frisco teenagers to volunteer in their communities and strive for environmental sustainability. Members are deeply concerned about the health and social impacts caused by non-eco-friendly practices. We welcome all teens age 14-18.
Becoming a Member of Teens4Green
Submit a volunteer application for Environmental Services. All volunteers must be registered in My Impact, be 14-18 years old, and either residents of Frisco or attend a school in Frisco. Volunteers 17 years or older will be required to complete a background check. Once approved, you will be able to sign up for service projects.
Adopt-a-Street: Year-Round
As a part of Keep Frisco Beautiful, Adopt-A-Street is a wonderful opportunity to teach others about citizenship, improve your community, and have a great time! The Adopt-a-Street program provides teams of all kinds: families, clubs, co-workers, and civic organizations, the opportunity to help beautify their community by volunteering to collect litter alongside Frisco streets. Volunteering for liter pick-up builds community and group pride, visibly improves your local environment, and saves taxpayer money!

Natural Resources
The mission of the City of Frisco Natural Resources Division is to enhance the quality of life for current and future residents through responsible management of natural resources. Our goal is to create a community where residents can "play naturally" in our beautiful green spaces and learn about Frisco’s natural areas through educational experiences.

The Harvest Community Garden

The Harvest at Frisco Commons is a communal space managed by the City of Frisco that offers raised garden boxes for annual rental, as well as public education space for Frisco residents and volunteers. Gardeners may grow vegetables, fruits, herbs, or flowers in their leased space.
You can help us grow!
Donate your time and/or resources to help our community garden flourish. Here are some ways to help:
Donate gardening supplies. Contact the Natural Resources Division if you have healthy plants, seeds, garden tools or other items that you would like to donate.
Participate in a Volunteer Workday. Whether you are a student seeking volunteer hours or you simply enjoy gardening, help is always needed.
Organize a Special Service Project. Looking for a fun team-building activity? Perfect for teams, civic organizations and corporate groups, volunteering together is an impactful way to bring people together. To learn more about current garden needs, e-mail the Natural Resources Division.

Junior Ranger Trailblazer Days - Special Event
Play Frisco's Natural Resources and Cultural Affairs Division have teamed up to host the Frisco Junior Ranger Trailblazer Days. The Junior Ranger program is designed for children 5-10 years old, but people of all ages are welcome to participate!
Come join Ranger Rufus and the Natural Resources Education Team and help families with different crafts and activities. Apply to be a volunteer and receive notifications of future event signups.
Buffalo Stomp - Wildflower Seed Planting - Special Event

Frisco Commons Park - North Meadow

Buffalo Stomp is an annual celebration of Frisco's prairies hosted by the City of Frisco and the Frisco Garden Club at Frisco Commons Park. Participants help seed the prairie with native wildflower and grass species. The goal of this event is to encourage community support of Blackland Prairie restoration efforts in Frisco. This event is held in conjunction with ArborFest. We need your help in setting up our seed ball tables and distributing seed balls to participants. Volunteer signups are posted in October.
Workday Wednesday - Summer Only
Help us keep Frisco litter-free by volunteering to pick up trash at our parks and trails throughout the summer. We'll provide all the clean-up supplies. Together, let's make a positive impact and create a safer and cleaner environment for everyone to enjoy! We welcome volunteers of all ages, however, if you are 14 years old or older, you must submit an application. Minors need a supervising adult and those under 14 must fill out a waiver on-site.
Rain Barrel Distribution - Spring
The City of Frisco partners with Rain Water Solutions, Inc. to offer Ivy rain barrels at a discounted price to citizens. We need your help with traffic control as well as loading/unloading rain barrels into vehicles. This event takes place in the spring. Feel free to submit an application now and you will be notified when signups are posted.
